Key Responsibilities:
- Substance Abuse Assessments: Conduct detailed assessments to evaluate substance use disorders and underlying mental health issues, using standardized tools for accurate assessment and diagnosis.
- Individualized Treatment Planning: Develop personalized treatment plans tailored to each resident’s unique needs, regularly updating based on client progress.
- Evidence-Based Therapy Interventions: Provide individual counseling sessions using CBT, DBT, and Motivational Interviewing to address addiction, enhance coping skills, and promote recovery.
- Group Therapy Facilitation: Lead group therapy sessions to build community, promote peer-to-peer learning, and support shared recovery experiences.
- Family Therapy and Education: Engage families in the treatment process, providing educational resources and support to improve communication and reinforce positive behaviors.
- Relapse Prevention Planning: Develop strategies with residents to prevent relapse by identifying triggers, building coping skills, and fostering resilience.
- Life Skills and Coping Mechanisms Training: Teach essential life skills, emotional regulation, and coping mechanisms to empower residents in making healthy choices.
- Documentation and Compliance: Maintain accurate and confidential records, ensuring compliance with HIPAA, ICD-10 standards, and facility policies.
- Multidisciplinary Collaboration: Work closely with healthcare professionals to ensure a holistic approach to treatment.
- Professional Development: Stay current with best practices in substance abuse counseling and participate in training and seminars.
Requirements:
- Licensure: Active license as a Substance Abuse Counselor.
- Experience: Experience working with youth in residential or psychiatric settings, focusing on addiction treatment and recovery.
- Skills: Proficiency in therapeutic approaches like CBT, DBT, and Motivational Interviewing, with strong case management and group facilitation skills.
- Physical Demands: Ability to lift/move up to 20 pounds and provide necessary physical services to clients. Must be free of communicable diseases and able to transport clients.
- Other: Valid state driver’s license and must meet state criminal background check requirements.
