Facilities Assistant

Description

We are now accepting applications for our Facilities Assistant.  This replacement position works between 4 pm and 8 pm, 4 days per week.

Primary Responsibilities:

Janitorial 60%

• Removing garbage and recycling from Y.O.U. office, porch, patio and garden
• Vacuuming, sweeping, and/or mopping floors
• Washing bathrooms and kitchen facilities
• Dusting office tables and desks
• Maintaining janitorial and maintenance supplies
• Washing windows
• Other duties as assigned

 Maintenance 30%:

• Office and lawn grounds upkeep – shoveling, removing garbage, clearing doorways and cleaning windows and doors
• Perform light maintenance, including assembly, installation, light painting and repairs
• Ensure the Y.O.U. parking lot and sidewalks are free from litter and debris
• Inspect all communal spaces to identify problems with litter, mechanical failure or breakdown
• Moving/assembling furniture
• Van maintenance, including pick up/drop off at repair shops, gas filling, oil changing, and cleaning
• Running errands as needed
• Other duties as assigned

 Building Events 10%:

• Event space set-up and break down

Founded in 1971, Y.O.U. is an Evanston-based non-profit that partners with families, schools, and the community to provide academic, social, and emotional support to close the opportunity gap and prepare all youth for post-secondary and life success. Each year, Y.O.U. provides over 1,600 youth across 11 school sites with free, holistic, out-of-school support, including afterschool and summer learning programs, mental health counseling, and experiential learning through partnerships. The organization is implementing a new strategic plan focused on data & evaluation of impact, increased integration of services, and refining the program model. Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

Education

• Minimum of a High School Diploma or G.E.D.

Experience

• Fluency in English · Ability to lift up to 75 lbs 
• Familiarity with cleaning and housekeeping tasks
• Attention to cleanliness and order
• Skills as a Handyperson
• Valid driver’s license and a clear driving record
• Professional and friendly manner
• Flexibility with work hours
