The Youth Peace Center of Roseland (YPC) is a community-based nonprofit organization offering a number of programs that reflect opportunities for youth to be engaged in activities that promote Peace and Good Citizenship. Our daily work focuses on mentoring youth by utilizing our main resources to drive initiatives that enhance community safety and prevent violence. YPC is a trusted leader in violence prevention, youth development, and trauma-informed care. Position Summary
The Employment Specialist will provide individualized career management, job placement assistance, and supportive services to youth and young adults participating in YPC’s workforce development programs. This individual will develop employer relationships, guide job seekers through career planning, conduct job readiness training and provide case management to enrolled and support job retention efforts.
Essential Job Functions
- Conduct program orientations, complete intake and eligibility documentation
- Develop individualized employment plans tailored to client goals
- Support job seekers in resume writing, interview preparation, and soft skill development
- Provide job readiness training and job placement services
- Cultivate relationships with employers, staffing agencies, and local businesses to secure job opportunities
- Match clients with job opportunities based on qualifications and career interests
- Coordinate with internal staff and external partners to support successful job placement and retention
- Facilitate job clubs, workshops, and employment-related events
- Track client engagement, employment outcomes, and job retention (30-, 90-, and 180-day check-ins)
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation using client management systems
- Provide support for employment-related barriers such as transportation, clothing, or documentation
- Administer assessments as required
- Attend job fairs, partner events, and program meetings
- Work within contract requirements and meet all deadlines for data reporting and compliance
Qualifications
Required:
- Associate's or Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Social Work, Counseling, Business, or related field
- 3 years of experience in workforce development, employer outreach, or career coaching
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Proficiency with Google Suite, Zoom, and Teams
- Experience using job databases IllinoisWorkNet.com
- Familiarity with state reporting systems and workforce platforms
- Experience in case management and maintaining accurate records
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team
- Strong time management and organizational skills
- Commitment to YPC’s mission and working with underserved communities
- Reliable transportation and valid driver’s license
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $30.00 - $35.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
