Join the Youth Sports Science Institute (YSSI) Board of Directors and help us revolutionize how young people, particularly in underserved communities, access education and career opportunities through sports and STEM. As a YSSI board member, you will contribute your expertise, insights, and networks to support our mission of empowering youth to turn their passion for sports into pathways to success in academics, technology, and beyond.

A successful board member will provide strategic guidance, champion YSSI’s mission within their networks, and drive initiatives that help us expand our reach and impact. Your involvement will strengthen the organization’s capacity to deliver innovative programming, foster critical partnerships, and secure resources to ensure sustainability and growth.

Responsibilities

• Strategic Leadership: Collaborate with fellow board members to set YSSI’s vision and ensure strategic priorities align with its mission.
• Fundraising and Development: Leverage your network to identify opportunities, secure funding, and support grant-writing and donor outreach initiatives.
• Advocacy: Act as an ambassador for YSSI by building awareness and cultivating partnerships within your professional and personal networks.
• Governance and Oversight: Ensure organizational compliance with policies, financial transparency, and accountability, while providing thoughtful input on major decisions.
• Support Program Innovation: Provide expertise to strengthen YSSI’s STEM and sports programming, particularly in areas such as technology, data analytics, education, or health sciences.
• Engagement: Actively participate in quarterly board meetings, serve on at least one committee, and support organizational events and initiatives.

Qualifications

We welcome individuals with diverse backgrounds and expertise, especially in the following areas:

• Nonprofit Leadership: Experience in governance, fundraising, or strategy for mission-driven organizations.
• STEM or Sports Expertise: Professional experience in STEM education, sports technology, health sciences, or data analytics.
• Business Acumen: Skills in finance, legal, marketing, or corporate partnerships.
• Diversity Advocacy: A passion for addressing equity and inclusion challenges, particularly for underserved Black and Brown communities.
• Relationship Building: A proven ability to engage diverse stakeholders and build meaningful partnerships.
• Commitment to Mission: Enthusiasm for YSSI’s mission and a willingness to contribute time, talent, and resources to advance its work.
