What are the responsibilities and job description for the Group Home Staff Members needed for Weekends position at Youth Unlimited?
Job Summary:
Youth Unlimited is looking for compassionate, dedicated, and patient individuals to join our team as Weekend Residential Group Home Staff. In this role, you’ll be working in a Level III treatment facility, supporting troubled youth who are working through significant mental health and behavioral challenges. This position is a unique opportunity to make a positive and lasting impact on the lives of young people who need guidance, stability, and care.
If you have a heart for helping others, an understanding of the complexities of youth behavior, and the desire to be a source of stability and hope for those in need, we invite you to consider joining our team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support and Care for Youth:
- Provide a safe, supportive, and nurturing environment for young residents.
- Assist with daily living activities, including meals, hygiene, and personal care.
- Monitor resident behavior, ensuring safety and well-being throughout the weekend.
- Offer emotional support, actively listening to the youth, and helping them through difficult moments.
- Create a Positive Environment:
- Help create an atmosphere of respect, trust, and accountability.
- Lead or participate in structured activities, such as life skills training, recreation, and group discussions.
- Encourage residents to develop positive coping skills, build confidence, and establish healthy routines.
- Behavioral Monitoring and Documentation:
- Observe and document youth behavior, tracking any changes or concerns that may arise.
- Ensure consistent adherence to treatment plans and facility policies.
- Report any critical incidents or behavioral concerns to the supervisory or clinical team.
- Crisis Support:
- Use de-escalation techniques to handle challenging or high-stress situations in a calm and effective manner.
- Work collaboratively with the team to address and resolve crises, always prioritizing the safety of youth and staff.
- Collaborate with the Team:
- Work alongside the treatment team to ensure each youth’s individual needs are met.
- Provide feedback and observations that support the overall treatment goals for the youth.
Why This Job is Rewarding:
Working with troubled youth in a Level III treatment facility is an incredibly fulfilling and meaningful experience. The challenges these young people face are complex, but so are their abilities to grow, learn, and overcome obstacles with the right support and encouragement. Your work will have a profound impact on their journey toward healing and recovery.
In this role, you will witness firsthand the progress that comes from small victories, the skills learned, and the moments when a young person takes a step toward their own well-being. You will help guide them through difficult moments, celebrate their successes, and be part of their transformation.
What We’re Looking For:
- Heart and Compassion: A genuine desire to make a difference in the lives of troubled youth and help them navigate their challenges.
- Patience and Understanding: The ability to remain calm and collected in difficult situations, offering a steady presence for the youth.
- Communication Skills: Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to actively listen, offer guidance, and build trusting relationships.
- Experience: Previous experience working with youth in a residential or treatment setting is preferred but not required. We value empathy and dedication just as much as experience.
- Flexibility: Ability to work weekend shifts, including evenings and overnight hours.
- Physical Requirements: Comfort with light physical tasks, including assisting with mobility or providing emergency support when needed.
The Rewards:
- The opportunity to truly make a difference in the lives of young people who need it the most.
- The satisfaction of seeing growth, healing, and change, knowing you helped make it happen.
- Working alongside a passionate, supportive team of professionals who share your commitment to youth development.
- A role that offers both emotional fulfillment and the chance to develop valuable skills in counseling, behavior management, and crisis intervention.
How to Apply:
If you’re ready to be a beacon of support and encouragement for youth on their recovery journey, we’d love to hear from you.
At Youth Unlimited Inc., we believe in the power of second chances and the strength of young people. Join us and help create a brighter future for those who need it most.
