What are the responsibilities and job description for the After School Tutor position at Youth Violence Intervention Through Sports?
After-School Tutor
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Provide group and individual tutoring sessions to program participants Monday through Thursday for up to 4 hours per day.
- Assess students' academic needs and tailor tutoring sessions to address specific challenges.
- Monitor and report on students' progress, offering feedback to participants and program staff as needed.
- Develop strategies to engage students and make learning accessible and enjoyable.
- Collaborate with program staff to identify students in need of academic support and design effective intervention plans.
- Maintain a positive and supportive learning environment for all participants.
Required Experience and/or qualifications:
- Experience providing academic tutoring, preferably in a school or after-school program setting.
- Strong knowledge of core academic subjects, with an emphasis on areas where students typically struggle.
- Ability to connect with and motivate students, fostering a positive attitude toward learning.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Commitment to helping students achieve their academic and personal goals
