Job Title: Rehabilitation Director

Job Summary:
The Rehabilitation Director is responsible for the overall planning, design, direction, integration, and coordination of rehabilitation services, including performance improvement activities for the therapy department. This role includes direct supervision of Physical Therapists (PTs), Physical Therapy Assistants (PTAs), Occupational Therapists (OTs), Occupational Therapy Assistants (OTAs), Speech-Language Pathologists (SLPs), and therapy technicians, in accordance with hospital policy and state practice acts.
Essential Functions:
- Manages department staff, including recruitment, scheduling, payroll, and performance evaluations.
- Serves as a resource person for staff members to build a strong and cohesive team.
- Identifies staff members needing additional support and provides assistance or delegates tasks to ensure timely and safe patient care, which may include redistributing patient loads.
- Addresses patient, family, nursing, or physician concerns and complaints in a timely and professional manner.
- Develops and implements departmental policies and procedures in alignment with hospital standards and regulatory requirements.
- Oversees the budget and resource allocation for the rehabilitation department.
- Monitors and ensures compliance with all applicable state and federal regulations, as well as accreditation standards.
- Collaborates with other departments and healthcare providers to ensure coordinated and comprehensive patient care.
- Plans and implements performance improvement initiatives to enhance the quality and efficiency of rehabilitation services.
- Maintains accurate and up-to-date records and documentation.
- Participates in strategic planning for the rehabilitation department and the hospital as a whole.
- Stays current with best practices and emerging trends in rehabilitation therapy.
Required Education:
- 2-year Associate's Degree (preferred)
Required Experience:
- Supervisory experience in a related field.
Required Licensure/Certifications:
- Valid Therapy license (PT, OT, or Speech) for the state where the hospital is located.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Physical Demands:
- MEDIUM WORK: Lift up to 50 lbs. occasionally and/or 10 lbs. constantly.
OSHA Risk Category Classification:
- Category 2: Jobs in which required tasks normally do not involve the potential for occupational exposure to blood and body fluids, but may require performing unplanned Category 1 tasks.
