YSS is looking for a astute, analytical, and accurate full-time Grants Accountant to join our Finance Team! This position is responsible for all areas relating to grant and contract spending for designated program areas. This position will also be an integral part of developing and maintaining accounting principles, practices and procedures to ensure that grant/contract dollars are managed and spent in compliance with the intent of the award. The Grants Accountant is crucial for ensuring compliance and efficient financial management of grants and contracts. The key duties include
- Understanding and adhering to grant/contract requirements,
- Monitoring fund drawdowns,
- Aligning processes with federal grant guidelines,
- Accurately allocating expenses to funding sources,
- Reconciling grant spending,
- Preparing fund tracking sheets and grant reconciliations,
- Providing insights on spending issues,
- Assisting with budget adjustments,
- Maintaining accurate expense allocation and ledger coding,
- Identifying necessary journal entries,
- Collaborating on grant budget revisions and closure,
- Submitting revisions to funders, and
- Ensuring timely and accurate reporting to granting agencies.

MUST HAVES - to qualify, you need:
- Bachelor's degree in finance or accounting.
- Two years of accounting experience.
SHOULD HAVES - we would also like you to:
- Experience with grants financial management.
- Strong computer skills with experience navigating multiple Microsoft Office programs (Excel, Outlook, Teams, Word).
- Advanced skill with accounting software, record-keeping programs, and database management including data collection, entry, and analysis.
- Strong problem-solving, critical thinking, and decision-making skills, with the ability to research and diagnose complex issues.
- Proven ability to work independently, manage time and resources effectively, and prioritize multiple tasks, ensuring accuracy and quality under tight deadlines; strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Excellent communicator, with the ability to convey information effectively to diverse audiences; capable of professional-level writing for documentation and reporting.
- Strong collaborator, able to build and maintain positive relationships, work effectively with diverse populations, and recognize the impact of their work on others.
