As a Medical Assistant, you will be working under the direction of and assisting the nursing and medical providers; coordinating telehealth services; gathering client medical information/records for appointments; preparing client paperwork; and ensuring that demographic and funding information is gathered and correctly entered into the Electronic Medical Record (EMR). The Medical Assistant’s primary responsibilities include:
- Responding to questions from patients, medical professionals, and management staff in person, by email, or on the phone.
- Providing information about YSS services to clients and if appropriate, making referrals to other YSS programs.
- Gathering, recording, and maintaining client information, such as vital signs, eating habits, behavior, progress notes, treatments, or discharge plans.
- Conducting screenings, tests, procedures, and analyses. Preparing reports as needed.
- Sharing information to assist medical providers to diagnosis and treat clients.
- Documenting all necessary health information and maintaining medical records in the EMR.
- Maintaining medical supply inventory; managing and monitoring refrigerated medications in compliance with agency regulations.
- Completing administrative tasks, such as entering orders into computer, answering telephone calls, and maintaining medical or facility information.
- Communicating with pharmacies and handling phone calls related to patient medication refills.

MUST HAVES - Required Qualifications
- A state of Iowa LPN license or Medical Assistant Certificate.
- A minimum of one year of full-time experience in a medical office setting.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
SHOULD HAVES - Preferred Qualifications
- Must be comfortable with a fast paced environment.
- Must be able to multitask while providing excellent customer service.
- Able to think and act quickly to resolve complex problems using creative/critical thinking, resourcefulness, and tact
