Job Description:
As an EFDA, you will play a crucial role in supporting our dental professionals and ensuring a smooth and efficient patient experience. You will be responsible for assisting the dentist in various dental procedures, performing expanded functions within your scope of practice, and maintaining a safe, clean, and organized work environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the dentist during various procedures such as restorative, surgical, and cosmetic treatments.
- Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays).
- Perform expanded functions including but not limited to placing and finishing fillings, taking impressions, placing temporary restorations, and adjusting crowns.
- Prepare and sterilize instruments and equipment according to infection control protocols.
- Ensure patient comfort throughout procedures, including managing anxiety and providing chairside assistance.
- Provide patient education on oral hygiene and post-treatment care.
- Maintain accurate and updated patient records.
- Manage patient flow to ensure appointments run on time.
- Assist with administrative tasks as needed, including scheduling, billing, and ordering supplies.
Qualifications:
- Certification as an Expanded Function Dental Assistant (EFDA) in Pennsylvania.
- Current CPR certification.
- Proven experience as an EFDA or Dental Assistant with expanded function duties.
- Knowledge of dental procedures, equipment, and instruments.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work well with a team and maintain a positive, professional attitude.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to providing high-quality patient care.
- Experience with dental software is a plus.
