Job Description:BASIC FUNCTION:
Under the direction of the academic administrator and/or Classified supervisor of Extended Opportunity Programs and Services (EOPS)/Cooperative Agencies Resources for Education (CARE), perform daily support services on and off-campus for low-income, under represented and non-traditional students; provide personal, vocational and academic information and advice; assist with program development, planning and implementation. These will include targeted recruitment, outreach, student success, retention and engagement functions for the EOPS/CARE Program intended to: increase college readiness and attendance; increase awareness of college programs of study and career options; through the matriculation process (orientation, assessments, and educational planning) prepare students for the transition from high schools served by the college, continuing students, and the general community within the EOPS/CARE Program eligibility.

Essential Duties Summary:REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES:
Provide presentations to groups of students at the assigned College location, high schools or community agencies for college matriculation orientation, EOPS and CARE orientations to incoming or new students to the College or EOPS program.
Interview students to obtain intake information; evaluate documentation to determine eligibility in accordance with Title 5 and district policies, request additional information from students as needed.
Serve as a mentor to students and provide training and work direction.
Assist students with CSU and UC admissions applications, registration process, application fee waivers and supplemental applications.
Instruct students individually regarding study skill strategies, technology and research techniques, and understanding academic requirements.
Plan and implement student engagement activities and events to provide in time services and information to students in support of the student's progression through college, from entry to completion.
Develop and maintain communication and technology resources, such as brochures, flyers, posters, technology strategies including, but not limited to texting, email, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter or other social media used by students or by the program. (E)
Maintain student caseloads to ensure students are following their Mutual Responsibility Contract to include program contacts with: Counselor, Specialist, Peer Mentor, monthly meetings and workshops.
Assist in planning, coordinating and implementing services to recruit and retain program participants, review and analyze applications and make decisions regarding eligibility status and maintain a rapport with participant parent(s)/guardian(s).
Evaluate standing of EOPS/CARE students to determine grant disbursements.
Assist in the coordination and help facilitate the Summer Program and provide support to tutors and ensure student participation.
Organize Summer Program recruitment, workshops and matriculation.
Develop and implement programs and services to recruit and retain program participants; participate in the evaluation of program effectiveness and prepare necessary reports. (E)
Provide assistance to students in identifying and developing educational, career and vocational needs and goals. (E)
Explain program services to students, staff, other schools and community agencies. (E)
Develop in-service programs and activities to promote instruction, develop awareness of participants' needs and improve communications; conduct or organize workshops and training sessions. (E)
Develop and schedule workshops to educate EOPS/CARE students on various topics like financial management and credit repair, job interview/applications, and financial aid.
Review and analyze program application and make decisions regarding eligibility status. (E)
Assist students in completing forms such as financial aid and college admission; arrange placement exams as necessary; receive and process applications; conduct workshops on the completion of required forms; specify referral of eligibility for awarding of funds. (E)
Consult with faculty regarding appropriate placement of students, monitor student progress and provide tutor assistance as needed. (E)
Maintain program records; gather and provide program data for inclusion into special reports utilizing Colleague, SARs, Excel, Image Now, or other college software. (E)
Provide personal, financial, academic, career and vocational advice to program students as necessary. (E)
Assist in the coordination and administration of the CARE Program and complete required reports; assist with determining eligibility and assisting students in the program. (E)
Manage confidential files, distribute supplies, track inventory of supply distribution, circulation and usage, bus passes, CARE meal cards, and other resources provided to students.
Organize and lead CARE monthly meetings and special events. Prepare correspondence for retention and outreach to students.
Recruit students on campus, at high schools and community agencies and groups and on special family nights; make presentations; interview students and inform students and parents of the EOPS Program. (E)
Recruit, assist in the selection of, train and provide work direction to Peer Mentors, Tutors and Office Assistants. (E)
Assist in the planning, organizing, supervising and evaluation of the College EOPS/CARE operations, programs and services; assist in coordinating programs with College and outside agency staff and supervise the work of the program. (E)
Write and edit a comprehensive newsletter regarding EOPS/CARE and related programs and services and distribute to colleges, agencies and individuals as required. (E)
Participate in a variety of EOPS/CARE and related advisory committees; participate in a variety of related on and off campus meetings; attend EOPS/CARE related professional meetings and workshops as approved. (E)
Maintain current knowledge of rules, regulations and guidelines related to EOPS/CARE programs; assure compliance with rules and regulations; analyze new or proposed legislation for possible impact on the programs.
Provide leadership and guidance for student clubs and activities. Perform related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Any combination equivalent to:
Bachelor's degree in liberal studies, social services, psychology or closely related field
AND (2) two years experience working with educational and economically disadvantaged students in a college student services program or in programs leading to a college education.

Range/Step: Range 32, CSEA Salary Schedule

Salary Range: $25.50 - $35.95/ Per Hour (Steps 1 - 11). Placement will be based on both the candidate's years of experience and educational qualifications.

Public Employee's Retirement System (PERS): Employee contribution of 8% if PERs Member after year of 2013. If PERs Member before 2013, the employee contribution is 7.5%.
20 paid holidays (including extended time off during the winter break).
11 days accrued paid vacation days per year (vacation accrual increases over time).
Accumulate 12 sick days a year.
