Work with YWPFSC staff, volunteers, community partners, and local and state agencies to develop and implement a Community Outreach and Engagement Strategy for YWPFSC in the Yuba Foothills including: Coordinate and staff an informational booth at outreach events throughout the year, including farmers markets, community picnics and fairs, etc.
YWPFSC seeks a passionate and organized Outreach Coordinator to implement and enhance community outreach and engagement in support of YWPFSC’s programs and mission. The ideal candidate will have a passion for community wildfire preparedness, be self-motivated, and be aware of local community resources. This is a part-time temporary position reporting to the YWPFSC Executive Director.
DUTIES:

- Work with YWPFSC staff, volunteers, community partners, and local and state agencies to develop and implement a Community Outreach and Engagement Strategy for YWPFSC in the Yuba Foothills including:
- Coordinate and staff an informational booth at outreach events throughout the year, including farmers markets, community picnics and fairs, etc.
- Prepare, inventory, and distribute physical and digital outreach materials to promote YWPFSC programs and general wildfire safety and preparedness
- Maintain a calendar of outreach activities for staff, volunteers, and the community
- Recruit, screen, and coordinate volunteers to support YWPFSC programs, including additional outreach and education, No Sparks Tow Chain Covers, and community workdays
- Participate in monthly YWPFSC meetings and provide progress report on YWPFSC outreach efforts
-Develop new and existing partnerships to further support YWPFSC outreach efforts
- Assist in the preparation of an annual budget for community outreach activities Assist in the development of grant proposals to support continued outreach
- Track and report performance for grant deliverables
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Associate’s Degree or higher, preferably in communications, marketing, business, or a related field; or equivalent experience conducting outreach and community engagement
- Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills Ability to effectively plan and lead small and large community groups and meetings
- Understanding of basic issues regarding community wildfire preparedness in California, or the ability to quickly learn
- Strong work ethic with the ability to work independently and meet deadlines
- Ability to handle changing priorities, multi-task, and creatively problem-solve to develop and maintain positive working relationships
- Experience using Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, file sharing applications, video conferencing platforms, basic graphic design programs such as Canva, and social media platforms
- Willingness to work evenings or weekends as needed to successfully connect with communities
- Ability to reliably travel to meetings and events
- Ability to carry heavy items over uneven surfaces and set up: pop-up canopies, folding tables, and crates of paper outreach materials (up to approximately 40 pounds)
JOB DETAILS:
Job Type: Part-time, temporary
Compensation: $22-25 per hour DOE, plus mileage reimbursement for travel to meetings and events Schedule: 20 hours per week
Location: Flexible: ability to work in the YWPFSC office in Browns Valley, CA at least one day per week, remote (with adequate internet connection), and ability to travel frequently to various locations throughout the Yuba County Foothills as needed for meetings and events
