What are the responsibilities and job description for the Pet Care Team Member position at Yucaipa Animal Placement Society?
Yucaipa Animal Placement Society (YAPS) is seeking a person with an exceptional work ethic to join our team. We are seeking someone with a background in animal care that could include volunteering or working at a veterinary facility, boarding facility, or other type of animal related position. Applicants must have an affinity for animals, be responsible and work well in a team environment.
Under the general supervision of the Animal Welfare & Medical Coordinators, the Pet Care Team Member will begin the day by helping to clean kennels and cattery. The majority of shift will be spent cleaning kennels and cattery, maintaining the YAPS facility grounds, doing repairs, maintaining the solar panels, and making sure all donations/supplies are properly stored. Deep cleaning and overall upkeep of the grounds; performs other duties as required.
YAPS is a private, no-kill, nonprofit organization located in Yucaipa, California. Well established, YAPS has been assisting animals within the region for over sixty years.
Examples of duties:
- Maintain the shelter facility and grounds; cleaning windows and restrooms, pull weeds, and complete minor repairs on an as needed basis; checks gates and locks for security purposes and reports any safety concerns to the supervisor; clean and stock the food bins and sheds.
- Oversee organization of all supplies on the YAPS grounds.
- Performs animal care duties such as cleaning and disinfecting all kennels and cattery; washing litter, food, and water pans; sweeping and/or vacuuming and mopping floors; picking up fecal material; washing and scrubbing debris from walls, beds, doors, and dog/cat run areas.
- Applicants must be in good health, able to lift 50 pounds, able to work in direct sunlight and able to perform on a physical level daily. Additionally, we are seeking a Team Member that is outgoing, eager, and open to growing with YAPS.
Employment Standards: a combination of training, education, and experience that would provide the required knowledge and abilities. Basic customer service skills and a neat appearance are mandatory.
Ability to: Ability to lift 50 pounds & comfortable handling large dogs >60lbs that may pull on leash. Able to be on your feet for 2 or more hours at a time and ability to move quickly.
18-32 hours per week and must be available weekdays, weekends, and ALL holidays.
