GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
To provide academic counseling services to Raven Homeschool students and to support the social and emotional development/welfare of students. Assist in promoting, implementing, and monitoring a school improvement program to target students identified academically at-risk. Provide related counseling, academic, career-ready support to promote graduation rates.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Master's degree in Education preferred
- State of Alaska Teacher Certification Type C in Guidance & Counseling required
- At least five years successful counseling experience required
- Valid driver’s license required
Job Duties:
Demonstrate and modify appropriate counseling techniques using ASCA standards to support student behavioral and social/emotional needs.
Assists students and teachers in maintaining graduation requirements, related documents and related files.
Assists in establishing and maintaining student records and logs in SIS.
Compile data, input information and provide monthly statistics of student/parent contacts, student goals, objectives, and progress.
Uses knowledge of each domain of the counseling curriculum (career, academic, and personal/social) in planning and delivering counseling services to students where required.
Uses and shares a wide variety of career resources, instructional materials, and activities with students and teachers.
Assists principals and teachers in networking with outside agencies.
Disseminates information to students, staff and parents regarding career opportunities .
Assists students in applying to colleges, universities, skill centers, and job training organizations.
Maintains a positive, professional, and supportive demeanor when working with students, parents and staff.
Assist in maintaining and upgrading the crisis counseling plan.
Coordinate with teaching staff to develop a personal education program.
Provide workshops for parents and guidance lessons to students in grades K-12.
Assist and/or provide in-service staff on child abuse, intervention and prevention, career education and other subjects as needed.
Work with other agencies and school districts concerning student transfers and academic counseling problems concerning students from this district.
Works in coordination with supervisor to organize annual senior workshops and freshman orientation.
Participate regularly in staff and team meetings, in-service programs, and workshops.

- Knowledge of local community and state resources relevant to student success.
- Knowledge of Drop-Out intervention strategies.
- Proficient understanding of PC computer, Microsoft Office, BrightWays, web browsers, data entry, telephone, printers, copy/fax machine and Video Conference equipment.
- Knowledge of and training in the components and provision of Social-Emotional Learning to all students.
- Homeschool background/knowledge preferred. Must be able to travel extensively.

Pay: $58,560.00 - $101,345.00 per year
