Job Title: Substance Use Counselor

About the Role:
The Yukon-Kuskokwim Health Corporation is seeking a motivated individual to join our team as a Substance Use Counselor. This position will provide a variety of village-based services, including substance use assessments, crisis stabilization, case management, screenings, and rehabilitation services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct substance use assessments and develop treatment plans in collaboration with clients and clinical staff.
- Provide crisis stabilization and intervention services to individuals experiencing a mental health or substance use crisis.
- Collaborate with community partners to coordinate services and provide case management support to clients.
- Develop and implement educational programs and materials on substance use and recovery for community members.
Qualifications:
- High school or GED equivalent required; commitment to advancing through a certification program.
- Two years experience in community services, volunteer work documented.
- Mature judgment, ability to communicate verbally, written, and electronically.
- Flexible work schedule, independent actions within prescribed limits.
Certifications and Training:
- Substance Abuse Counselor certification (plan developed with supervisor).
- BHA-I certification (partner with supervisor to advance).
- 180 hours towards BHA-I training program and 100-hour clinical practicum under licensed clinician's supervision.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bilingual Yup'ik/English/Regional preferred.
