JOB TITLE: INSTRUCTIONAL COACH (PK-3 ELEMENTARY MATH)
JOB SUMMARY: The instructional math coach will facilitate the integration of the Oklahoma Math Standards, as well as provide non-evaluative coaching and feedback, lesson plan development and strategies that support the Oklahoma Math Framework. The instructional math coach is responsible for working strategically to provide ongoing support and professional development in effective instructional strategies that align instruction and assessment with current research and math assessments (ELQA, Amira, OSTP) to improve student achievement.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Collaborate with principal and curriculum team in the planning and implementation of math curriculum for the purpose of creating a learning environment that supports academic achievement for all students.
- Assists teachers in designing and implementing lesson plans and assessments that reflect the use of best practices and are correlated to the Oklahoma Math Framework Project and the Oklahoma Academic State Standards for the purpose of providing instruction that will increase academic achievement.
- Assists teachers in using flexible grouping for the purpose of addressing academic deficiencies appropriately and providing opportunities to accelerate academic performance.
- Work with PLC teams to support the academic needs of students in the area of mathematics instruction.
- Support the implementation of the RTI process through data analysis and instructional use of student formative and benchmark data.
- Provide individual and small group professional development to educators regarding evidence based instructional practices to improve student mathematics achievement.
- Participate in curriculum development, formative and summative assessment development, data analysis, and ongoing research and practice related to mathematics achievement.
- Continues to improve professionally in the areas of mathematics instruction and research based best practices.
EDUCATIONAL/TRAINING REQUIREMENTS:
- Minimum of five years of successful classroom teaching experience with an emphasis on mathematics.
- Valid Oklahoma teacher certification required; early childhood certification preferred
- Elementary Mathematics Specialist certification or additional coursework hours in mathematics education, preferred
- Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule; will be in the office approximately 20% of each week, with the remaining 80% of the week spent working in the schools.
- Generally, the job requires 60% standing, 20% walking, and 20% sitting.
- Must maintain a valid driver’s license; must have reliable transportation and the ability to drive to multiple work locations within the school district.
- Must regularly lift and/or move objects up to 10 pounds and frequently lift and/or move objects up to 50 pounds.
- May experience constant interruptions, inflexible deadlines, and changes to normal routines.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
- 184-day contract
- Salary Range based on classroom teacher experience
REPORTS TO: Building Principal
STATUS: Exempt Certified
