Position Title: Geotechnician
Location: Sand Point, Alaska 

Job Overview: We are seeking a motivated Geotechnician to join our team. This role involves supporting Mineral Exploration operations through a variety of tasks. The ideal candidate should be physically capable and ready to take on responsibilities as assigned. No prior experience is required, as on-the-job training will be provided. Specific duties and qualifications will vary depending on job classification.

Qualifications:

1. Ability to carry 90 pounds.
2. No prior experience required.
3. Additional qualifications dependent upon job classification (see below).

Job Responsibilities:

1. General Responsibilities:
   • Operating masonry saws and crushers, including their maintenance.
   • Depending on job classification, additional responsibilities may include:
     • Operating skid steer loaders.
     • Measuring and recording drill core data for core logging geologists.
     • Loading planes.
     • Receiving core from helicopters.
     • Conducting soil and rock sampling.
     • Operating GPS and/or PDA for collection of sample coordinates and other relevant information.
2. Detailed Responsibilities by Classification:
   • Entry-Level Geotechnician:
     • Basic equipment operation and maintenance.
     • Assisting with core handling and data recording.
     • Conducting basic sampling and data collection.
   • Intermediate Geotechnician:
     • More complex equipment operation (e.g., skid steer loaders).
     • Detailed core data measurement and recording.
     • Coordinating logistics for sample transportation.
     • Advanced sampling techniques and data collection using GPS/PDA.
   • Senior Geotechnician:
     • Supervising junior staff and overseeing complex operations.
     • Comprehensive equipment maintenance and troubleshooting.
     • Managing core logging and data recording processes.
     • Planning and executing detailed sampling strategies.
     • Ensuring accurate and efficient data collection and documentation.

Additional Information:

• Work Environment: This position may require work in remote locations, often under varying weather conditions.
• Physical Requirements: Must be able to carry heavy equipment and samples (up to 90 pounds).
• Training: On-the-job training will be provided, with opportunities for advancement based on performance and skill development.
