PRIMARY FUNCTION: The Electrical Technician Avionics II installs, troubleshoots, and maintains aviation electronics equipment to include but not limited to; advanced communications, radar, navigation and aircraft survivability equipment in various Rotary and Fixed Wing aircraft.

Essential Functions


  • Performs maintenance and installation of research and development projects on airplanes and helicopters.
  • Assists in the preparation of schematic and wiring diagrams.
  • Determines material specifications, assembles components, tests, troubleshoots and repairs avionics/electronic components as necessary.
  • Components/assemblies primarily worked on include radio equipment, navigation equipment, autopilots, automatic stabilization equipment, and aircraft instrument systems.
  • Fabricates, assembles necessary wire bundles, mounting equipment and assists with the design of unusual configuration necessary to adapt projects to aircraft systems.
  • Performs scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on helicopters and airplanes.
  • Completes inspections, troubleshoots, accomplishes modification work orders, completes operational checks, orders repair parts through the Army Supply System and makes forms and records entries on aircraft records.
  • Operates motor vehicles in accomplishment of assigned work and assists with on-the-job training of other technicians.
  • May be required to participate in aerial flights.
  • Assists with familiarization training of other technicians as required.
  • The Electrical Technician Avionics II may be required to perform other related duties to meet the ongoing needs of the organization


Supervisory Responsibilities

This job has no supervisory responsibilities. This position has the responsibility and authority to carry out assigned tasks.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:


  • Beginner to intermediate computer skills specifically using Microsoft Office Suite; ability to learn additional computer skills or software programs. Working knowledge of advanced software applications is preferred
  • Ability to enter data accurately into databases.
  • Ability to understand and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to generate routine reports and correspondence
  • Interpersonal skills are necessary to work effectively and cooperatively with all levels of management and staff. Will also routinely interact with other crew members
  • Ability to use general office equipment such as fax, phone, copier, scanner, printers, etc.
  • Ability to follow a process.
  • Strong professional customer service skills, including active listening, prompt service and follow-up.
  • Strong decision analysis and problem solving skills; ability to draw conclusions and justify decisions. Must be able to communicate issues to management.
    • Ability to learn and understand corporate policies and procedures and how they relate to goals.
    • Ability to perform basic mathematical computations
    • High degree of self-motivation and the ability to work independently
    • Ability to multi-task
    • Climbs on top of and down from aircraft using aircraft hand/foot holds, capable of lifting up to 25 lbs. overhead, on feet all day, walk up to 2 miles per day.


QUALIFICATIONS:


  • High School Diploma / Equivalent
  • Aviation Electronics school trained or certified US Military Service School Certificate required
  • Minimum of 6 years’ experience in the field of aviation electronics for the specific aircraft supported
  • Ability to pass and maintain solder certification
  • Willingness to travel
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and be required to operate a government general purpose vehicle
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a Government Security Clearance
