Job Summary

This position is advertised from the minimum to the mid-point hourly rate. Salary will be determined based on education and experience at the time of offer.

Performs a variety of high-level tasks in managing the files and movements of probationers on unsupervised probation or waiting to serve a term of probation; coordinates, processes and compiles records, data and other legal materials used to start the probation process; coordinates with parole officers.

Nature of Work

(Illustrative Only) Prepares legal paperwork and for probationers, and files with the court; requests and reviews financial updates, requests immigration checks and criminal histories; communicates with defendants to get waivers for the repayment of monetary assessments can be filed with the court; prepares monthly statistics, files paperwork and makes case notes as appropriate; enters data and verifies information; tracks incoming and outgoing cases; regularly reviews restitution cases and ensures payments are being made; reviews and researches criminal history information to determine if new offenses have been committed or have outstanding warrants; notifies relevant parties when defendants commit new crimes, violate conditions or return to the county illegally; communicates with law enforcement agencies, court personnel and probation or parole officers to obtain necessary reports and documents necessary to determine whether petitions to revoke need to be filed; coordinates with parole officers to ensure defendants timely release from custody and report to the probation office; assigns cases to field officers when defendants are released from prison; coordinates with supervisors to assign probationers moving from unsupervised probation to supervised probation to field officers; informs probationers or those newly released from prison who their field officer will be; assists with receptionist duties as needed; assists with other office duties such as answering the telephone, taking payments, reconciling financial information and notarizing documents; performs other functions as assigned; abides by the Code of Conduct for Judicial Employees.

Experience and Education

High school diploma or GED; AND, three (3) years of progressively responsible experience involving extensive contact with offenders, complex legal process coordination, and/or closely related responsibilities; OR, any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
  • This classification requires the applicant to pass criminal background checks.
  • A valid Arizona State Driver’s License may be required.
  • Arizona Committee on Judicial Education and Training (COJET) yearly accreditation is required.
  • May be required to obtain Terminal Operator Certification for access to Arizona Criminal Justice Information System (ACJIS).
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT
Work is performed in a standard office environment and Court facilities.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of: Applicable State of Arizona statutes, rules, administrative orders, operational policies and procedures, Federal rules and requirements.; Yuma County Policies and Procedures; basic principles and practices of file management, bookkeeping, accounting, case management, and record keeping; probation and parole processes, legal terminology and court processes and procedures; modern office practices, procedures and equipment.

Skills In: Interacting with people of different social, economic, and ethnic backgrounds; working under pressure in a dynamic work environment with changing demands and priorities; establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with court employees, other court and non-court related agencies and representatives, and the public; communicating effectively and producing and finalizing reports for public dissemination and/or court system use; operating a personal computer utilizing a variety of software; operating common office equipment; making accurate arithmetical calculations;

Ability To: Follow written and oral instructions; communicate effectively both orally and in writing


Medical Coverage Category
The YCEBT is a self-funded medical plan administered by BlueCross BlueShield of Arizona (BCBSAZ). The employee is able to select from three (3) medical plan options with six (6) tiers that will best suit the employee's needs, dependents or families.

Plan Option 1: Preferred Provider Option A (PPO) or PPO A 1100 deductible. Employees who participate in the "Wellness Incentive" will receive a $30 monthly premium reduction by completing three steps.

Plan Option 2: Preferred Provider Option B (PPO) or PPO B 1,500 deductible. Employees who participate in the "Wellness Incentive" will receive a $30 monthly premium reduction by completing three steps.

Plan Option 3: High Deductible High Plan - Health Savings Account (HDHP-HSA) with a 1700 deductible. Employees who participate in the “ Wellness Incentive” will receive a $30 monthly premium reduction by completing three steps.

Employer contributes a total of $800.04 to employees Health Savings Account. If employees select Employee only and participate in the “ Wellness Incentive” employees can receive up to 360.00 contribution to a Limited Purpose FSA card to be used for medical or dental purposes.

Southwest Service Administrator (SSA) Mexico PPO Health Plan: SSA is available to employees who are enrolled in YCEBT Medical PPO Plan A and PPO Plan B. The SSA Plan pays 100% of hospital, medical, laboratory and prescription drug benefits, to a maximum of $5,000 per person per calendar year ($10,000 for two or more family members).
