NATURE OF WORK
Work Environment: The usual and customary methods of performing the job’s functions require the following physical demands: lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling. Generally the job requires 30% bending, 20% walking, 20% stooping and 30% standing; the job is performed under varying extreme weather conditions and exposed to exhaust and chemical fumes, oil and hazardous materials.

NATURE OF WORK
Under general supervision, performs work of moderate difficulty in skilled maintenance of buildings and associated equipment and systems; performs painting, carpentry, masonry, roofing, plumbing, piping, and other related repairs; performs related duties as required or assigned; this position has countywide responsibility.
(Illustrative Only) Performs general field work of moderate difficulty in a variety of building maintenance, renovation, restoration, and grounds duties; interior repairs to include installing and replacing locks, replacing and adjusting doors and door closers, replacing faucets, repair toilet flushing devices, fixture traps, re-hanging lavatories, clearing clogged drains, tightening or replacing leaking pipe and pipe joints; installs electrical conduit, switches and receptacles and performs miscellaneous electrical repairs; installs, replaces or adjusts, light bulbs, ballasts, belts or similar objects; replaces tile, does miscellaneous painting, repairing and replacement of broken woodwork; installs shelving and repairs cabinetry; performs maintenance checks and repairs on equipment such as water heaters, small motors, blower, fans, pumps, and similar items; makes exterior repairs including patching roofs, replacing shingles or siding, repairing steps, concrete walkways, railing, fences, and repainting; performs preventive maintenance including filter checks and replacement and other equipment requiring scheduled PMs; may perform grounds keeping duties as required; prepares and maintains records including data entry into computerized software program; prioritize routine daily regarding work requests; reports, documents, and responds to emergency situations regarding any issues with the buildings; provides on-call services as predetermined by the agency head; regular and reliable attendance is required; performs other duties as assigned.
High School Diploma or GED equivalent; AND three (3) year of building maintenance and repair work experience; OR any combination of training, education or experience which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Requires successful completion of a background check, must possess and maintain a valid Arizona driver’s license.
Knowledge of County policies and procedures; Uniform Building Codes; procedures, materials, tools and equipment used in all facets of general building maintenance and repair; occupational hazards and required preventative measures.
Skill in: Walking, climbing stairs, ladders and scaffolds; stooping squatting, and kneeling for short periods of time; painting, carpentry, masonry, and other trades; maintaining safety standards; communicating effectively verbally and in writing; following verbal and written instructions; performing manual labor.
Ability to: Physically move through the facilities with, or without equipment; work in varying extreme weather conditions; be exposed to exhaust and chemical fumes, oil, grease and hazardous materials; establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers; bend, kneel, squat, pull, and push on a repeated basis; communicate clearly in written or oral format; lift up to 50 lbs; perform the essential functions of the job specifications with or without a reasonable accommodation.
