This position is advertised from the minimum to the mid-point hourly rate. Salary will be determined on education and experience at the time of offer.
NATURE OF WORK:
Under close supervision, performs work of routine difficulty in monitoring Detention security environment; this position has department specific responsibility.

Monitors the safety and security of the detention center; performs routine electronic and video surveillance of security staff and prisoners; maintains detention records and reports; performs routine clerical duties; regular and reliable attendance is required; performs other duties as assigned.
High School Diploma or GED equivalent; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience; must successfully complete minimum forty (40) hours of detention training; may be required to successfully complete a background check, polygraph, drug test, prior to appointment: must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.
Knowledge of: County policies and procedures; principles and practices of a detention center; data processing equipment and video monitoring.
Skills in: Effectively communicating with individuals of various socioeconomic, ethnic and cultural backgrounds; analyzing situations, detecting problems, and documenting atypical occurrences; responding to emergencies and stressful situations calmly, quickly, and decisively; report preparation and record keeping.
