Mid = $143,709.03

Summary
The Manager Med Surg is a member of the Adult Acute Care team who provides operational and strategic support to the Med Surg departments to meet the needs of the organization. The Manager provides leadership and expertise in the management of operations, human resource management, and quality management for departments and programs in support of the purpose, pillars and values of YRMC/Onvida Health.
Responsibilities
Support to 2West Director during peak census months (e.g. November through April); expanded support to Adult Acute Care during periods pf low census
Responsible for planned and organized opening of 3West, as led by 2West Director
Contributes knowledge and assessment to census projections that inform staffing decisions related to employed staff and agency
Demonstrates appropriate fiscal management, e.g. through monitoring and managing productivity
Unyielding commitment to providing excellent service to patients, Providers, employees and other customers; strong communication skills
Patient and family centered care, aligned with organizational values, and Experience data and initiatives
Completes tasks through personal initiative, in alignment with Administrative Director, Director(s) and in partnership with Nurse Educator{s)
Demonstrates an ability to plan, organize, coordinate, prioritize, balance workload, and follow through to achieve goals and objectives
Demonstrates use of good judgment and sound decision making (common sense, intuition, data collection, analytical skills, impact evaluation, communications) to systematically address problems, define alternative solutions, and implement solutions
Quality management through promoting a Culture of Safety, near miss reporting, event reporting, patient safety outcome reviews, providing staff tools and resources, coaching to success, and providing effective personnel development and management
Understands and able to communicate how individual and department goals overlap with organizational goals; demonstrates commitment for the good of the organization
Committed to the community: involved in, and encouraging participation in, community events and hospital partnerships
Imperative to process improvement in Adult Acute Care: includes Lean Six Sigma training, A3 projects, Gemba Walk preparations, local and external presentations of improvements
Other duties as assigned by department leadership.
