The District Sales Manager (DSM) is considered the conduit between customer satisfaction and business development within his/her assigned district. This is accomplished by planning, organization, concise communication skills, and executing a business plan. The District Sales Manager leads an energized sales force to maximize sales and profits and execute business priorities within a Performance culture. The District Sales Manager plays an integral role in developing and leading the frontline sales team to success.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Drive consistent revenue growth in sales, exceeding revenue growth targets.
- Lead and oversee day-to-day sales, sales operations, logistics, inventory, scheduling, training, employee development and performance management to build team strength and achieve targets.
- Achieve or exceed service standards across all channels.
- Achieve or exceed Incremental Points of Distribution targets within his/her assigned district.
- Lead display execution improvement within his/her assigned district.
- Achieve or exceed productivity targets, leading productivity initiatives within his/her assigned district.
- Successfully prospect and generate leads by cold-calling, meeting required monthly new account and revenue quotas.
- Prepare and conduct business reviews and account calls with key accounts within his/her assigned district.
- Lead strong safety culture by utilizing Company safety initiatives to minimize injury, work time loss and productivity loss.
- Build strong working relationships with all key customers within his/her assigned district.
- Achieve or exceed expense targets.
- Develop and implement the appropriate sales programs and tools designed to grow account base and increase revenue with existing customers.
- Prioritize projects, data and communication going to frontline.
- Effectively lead team through company initiatives using change management.
- Building and executing appropriate development plans for all employees including bench strength.
- Conduct scheduled interactions with employees to drive sales and capability including Work With, One with Ones and District Meetings.
- Provide all necessary sales support and training related to automated ordering system, sales reports, sell sheets, P.O.S., and other sales related materials.
- Ensure compliance with all company standards.

Supervisory Responsibility:
This position manages all Territory Sales Managers and Territory Sales Leads (10-15) in the DSM’s assigned service area and is responsible for leadership, performance management and hiring and firing of the employees within its department.
Work Conditions:
- Location: Work is performed 90% indoors, and 10% outdoors while operating vehicle between customer locations.
- Hazards: Slippery surfaces; wet & icy, exposure to cold, cuts, pinch points and overhead obstacles in freezers, moving equipment and normal traffic hazards while operating personal vehicle.
- Equipment Used: Computer and personal vehicle.
Physical Requirements:
- Standing/Walking: Constantly, while performing duties in retail customer locations; walking, up to 1-2 miles per shift on concrete or tiled surfaces.
- Sitting: Occasionally (20%), while operating personal vehicle between customer locations, can be subject to heavy traffic.
- Occasionally required to push and pull using both hands and arms, kneel, crouch, climb or balance, bend and twist at waist 30 – 45 degrees.
- Sight/Hearing/Speech: Constantly, required to ensure safe operation of vehicle, and performing essential functions at retail customer locations.
- Other Demands: Subject to cold temperatures -20 degrees F, while working in store freezer units up to 20 minutes, 3-4 times daily.
Minimum Requirements:
- High School Diploma / GED equivalent.
- A four-year degree from an accredited college, preferred.
- 3-5 years first level management experience.
- Experience in the DSD/Consumer Package Goods industry, strongly preferred.
- Outside sales and cold call experience.
- Must be proficient in Power Point, Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Strong oral, written, and presentation skills.
- Demonstrated leadership skills,
- Proven problem-solving skills.
- Familiarity with territory, markets, and customers.
- Time and territory management abilities.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and projects simultaneously.
- Successful completion of post offer background check, MVR, drug screen, physical and physical abilities test.
- Must have a Class C driver's license with a minimum of 5 years driving experience with no moving violations over the past 3 years.
- Must have a dependable vehicle with valid insurance.
- Ability to work early morning/late night hours.
- Willing to work over 40 hours per week. Willing to work on weekends and holidays when required.
- Must have basic math skills.
- Ability to work safely.
- Ability to read, write and communicate in English as it relates to the job and to safety regulations.
