Job Description

The Early Childhood Support Specialist will provide support to teachers and staff in the planning and implementation of early childhood programs. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in early childhood education and experience working with young children and families. This is a full-time position that requires a strong commitment to the values of the Yurok Tribe and a passion for early childhood education.

**Responsibilities:**
  1. Assist in the planning and implementation of developmentally appropriate classroom activities.
  2. Help to create a warm and accepting environment that encourages independence and self-esteem for each child and parent.
  3. Support the teacher in evaluating daily program and individual children's progress.
  4. Uphold confidentiality of child and family information.
  5. Perform other related duties as assigned.

**Qualifications:**
  • A current and age-appropriate Child Development Association (CDA) Credential or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • High school diploma or GED and enrolled in a CDA Credential program with a completion date of 1 year, OR completion of six postsecondary semester units from an accredited school/college in early childhood education or child development, OR the ability to complete 12 ECE core units within 2 years.
  • Must pass a physical, TB test, hepatitis screen, and fingerprint clearance.
  • Ability to obtain Infant Child First Aid and CPR within the first three months.
  • Knowledge of Yurok history, culture, and values.
