Job Description
The Housing Locator's primary goal is to locate affordable housing units that meet the needs of program participants.
- Develop and maintain relationships with landlords and rental properties.
- Provide ongoing landlord retention services.
- Work with program participants and their housing case manager to understand their needs.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Conduct outreach and marketing for new landlords and property providers.
- Create housing stock/inventory by identifying available affordable housing units.
- Conduct need assessments to identify client's housing needs and barriers to Permanent Housing.
- Develop housing search plans with program participants and housing case managers.
- Conduct housing search services to ensure clients secure permanent supportive housing within contractual time frames.
- Manage landlord incentives.
- Serve as primary point of contact for landlords and property providers.
- Act as liaison between landlords, housing authority (if applicable), case management team, and participant.
- Address issues related to maintenance, health, safety, housing quality standards, rental payment, etc.
- Conduct unit inspections (pre-and-post housing).
- Maintain proactive communication with landlords/property managers.
- Assess damage to units and arrange for repairs.
- Educate landlords and program participants on landlord/tenant rights.
- Work in close partnership with housing case management team to understand program participants' needs.
- Provide on-call services for landlords, property managers, and/or realtors involved in housing clients.
- Prepare, maintain, and update clients' hard case files/e-files related to the case.
- Model Yurok Tribe's approach, mission, and core values in all communication, correspondence, community events, coalitions, and advocacy efforts.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a related field.
- One year job specified experience (G8) or two years' job specified experience (G9).
- Ability to respond to landlords and clients in a calm, empathetic, and professional manner.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and support team efforts.
- Microsoft Office skills.
- Good understanding of case management and development of case plans for clients.
- Knowledge of laws, rules, and regulations including policies, procedures, programs, and goals of public social service agencies.
- Able to exercise sound judgment when organizing, directing, prioritizing, and assigning activities.
Supervisory Responsibilities
This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.
