Qualifications:
This position requires a two-year degree in Early Childhood Education, a minimum of 5 years experience in the field of early childhood education, administration, experience in training child care staff in Creative Curriculum, Teaching Strategies Gold and classroom experience. Must be have knowledge of Step Up to Quality Guidelines and Ohio Jobs and Family Services State Licensing Regulations and Rules.
Responsibilities:
- Assist the Director with overseeing and daily operations of the center and Early Head Start (EHS) programming to ensure that all areas of programming are operating smoothly
- Assist with the daily staff scheduling and oversight of the Early Head Start Performance Standards
- Assist with interviewing, hiring, and facilitating the orientation for new staff
- Coordinate with the Director in conducting staff/classroom observations and yearly evaluations
- Oversee and ensure that staff meet SUTQ professional development standards and EHS standards
- Maintain center compliance with state licensing regulations
- Creating and maintaining staff files for Step-Up-To-Quality and EHS
- Maintain all SUTQ benchmarks including ensuring that teachers are maintaining child files for Step-Up-To-Quality (portfolio, assessments, screenings)
- Complete and review professional development plans with staff
- Ensure that staff are inputting trainings on Professional Development registry.
- Oversee and ensure that staff are entering lesson plans for classes into Teaching Strategies Gold System.
- Seek out and participate in curriculum, SUTQ, assessments, and Teaching Strategies Gold trainings to ensure that center is meeting curriculum updates
- Check weekly lesson plans to ensure that they are being completed to meet SUTQ
- Conduct weekly staff meetings and trainings
- Work closely with the Senior Director, Directors, and CEO to plan future directions of program
- Attend Administrative Staff meetings as needed
- Maintain positive public relations with customers and outside agencies
- Work cooperatively with the Director in managing and resolving staff conflicts in accordance with policies and procedures and consulting with CEO when appropriate
- Review and update job descriptions in accordance with the personnel policy and committee
- Develop, coordinate and distribute monthly child care newsletter
- Maintain and update child care handbook
- Assist in the coordination of parent engagement activities
- Attend meetings and conferences for Early Childhood Educators
- Fill in classrooms/transportation/kitchen as needed
- Must be able to drive bus, and cover classrooms when needed
