What are the responsibilities and job description for the Education Coordinator position at YWCA Charleston?
- Bachelor's degree in education, State certification for Teachers, and/or relevant extended experience
- Teacher Certification preferred.
Additional Requisites:
- Good oral/written communication skills.
- Strong communication, organizational, and crisis intervention skills.
- Ability to provide diagnostic assessment, guidance, and instruction in Adult Basic Education/Adult Literacy, etc.
- Ability to provide diagnostic assessment, guidance, and counseling to Pre-Employment Skills, Job Coaching/Career Search, Interview Techniques, Dress to Impress, etc.
- Ability to evaluate, develop, and implement curriculum instructional materials, methods, and techniques.
- Ability to establish effective lesson plans for individualized instruction.
- Work around moderate noise, stoop, kneel, crouch, and lift or carry up to 50 lbs.
- Have and maintain a valid driver’s license.
- Must pass a criminal background check.
Responsibilities:
- Be committed to and follow the YWCA of Charleston Employee Handbook as well as the Rules, Procedures, and Protocols governing the YWCA Sojourner’s Shelter Program, including, but not limited to, maintenance of professional boundaries with the residents/participants.
- Administer diagnostic assessments, formulate curriculum and design individualized educational programs for participants.
- Implement competency-based classroom instruction in Adult Basic Education/Adult Literacy, Pre-Employment Skills, etc.
- Collaborate, coordinate, and conduct informative educational workshops/seminars.
- Cooperate with and work in coordination with the Sojourner’s Management Team.
- Cooperate with and work in coordination with other homeless providers and partnerships.
- Maintain accurate progress records, utilizing the HMIS system.
- Compile monthly, quarterly, and annual reports on time.
- Conduct project/program evaluations with the Executive Director.
- Assist with research and grant applications to ensure program continuation.
- Represents YWCA Sojourner’s Program within the community.
- Attend and participate in staff meetings and training.
- Attend and participate in HMIS training.
- Assist YWCA Sojourner’s other Staff in case of emergencies.
- Other duties, as assigned.

Compensation: $20.00 Hourly.
