What are the responsibilities and job description for the Youth Mentor position at YWCA Cortland?
The SEL MENTOR position is responsible for planning and implementing social and emotional development activities for children attending the YWCA LEAPs after school program (ages 5 to 12 years), ordering supplies, and maintaining required paperwork for grant. The SEL Mentor must maintain compliance with program policies and OCFS licensing. This person, when not implementing activities will interact with children and aide in the supervision of children along with program staff.
Responsibilities:
This person will work Monday through Friday during the school year in a NYS OCFS licensed School Age care. This individual will also have office hours and planning time and will maintain compliance with OCFS LEAPs grant requirements and will follow YWCA agency guidelines. This person will need mandated training to complete and perform the required job duties. The agency will provide those trainings.
Qualifications:
Minimum High School diploma (however some education is preferred)
-some experience with lesson planning is preferred
- experience working with children is required
Working Conditions:
Busy after school care setting. Regular up and down movements and may work outside as well. Office hours as well.

Part time, temporary position to begin immediately (Working 20 hours a week for the entire school year). The position is grant funded (5 year grant contract) and may change according to grant requirements.
Must be willing to have background clearance check and medical.
