Position Overview
The Director of Gender-Based Violence (GBV) Services is responsible for overseeing programs, policies, and services related to addressing and preventing gender-based violence. This position requires strong leadership skills, experience in managing GBV programs, and a deep understanding of the issues surrounding gender-based violence, including domestic violence, sexual violence, human trafficking, and more.
Statement of Duties
Program Development and Management
- Leads the planning, implementation, and evaluation of gender-based violence programs, ensuring services are effective, accessible and survivor-centered
- Provides crisis response guidance during emergency situations and coordinate appropriate responses to ensure survivor safety and well-being
- Meets Grants Deliverables: Coordinate a variety of grand-funded projects focused on building the ability of providers and advocates directly addressing domestic violence, intimate-partner violence, sexual violence and batterer intervention, ensuring project grant goals and objectives are being met and assessed for quality and efficiency
- Collaborates with government agencies, policymakers, and community organizations to advocate for policies that address GBV and improve the support available for survivors
- Manages and secures funding for GBV programs through grant writing, partnerships, and resource mobilization
- Develops and delivers training on GBV prevention, response, and survivor-centered care for staff, volunteers and the broader community
Supervision and Team Leadership
- Supervises a team of professionals (social workers, counselors, case managers) providing GBV services, offering guidance, training and support to staff
- Provides training, mentorship, and support to ensure high-quality services
- Oversees scheduling, staffing and resource allocation
Community Engagement
- Engages with the community to raise awareness about GBV, promote prevention efforts, and reduce stigma for survivors
- Co-creates community-based campaigns to promote awareness and conduct outreach
Policy Advocacy
- Follows federal, state and tribal gender-based violence legislation and policy to assist in developing improved responses and recommendations that support survivors
- Attends related committee and taskforce meetings
Administrative Duties
- Prepares and manage budgets for programs and activities
- Maintains accurate records of program participation and outcomes
- Collects and analyze data on service delivery and outcomes to inform program improvements and report to stakeholders, including funders and government bodies
- Perform other duties as assigned
This job is located at an Empowerment Center:
South LA, South Bay or Compton with travel to all sites as necessary.
This is not a remote job.
Salary: $98,595-$131,460/yr.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in social work, public health, gender studies or a related field
- Knowledge of GBV frameworks, trauma-informed care, and all programmatic aspects related to gender-based violence
- Strong leadership, communication and advocacy skills
- Familiarity with community resources and a passion for serving diverse populations
- Relevant certifications in GBV or trauma-informed care preferred
- Bilingual in Spanish highly desired
