POSITION SUMMARY:
Westfield (Before/After) Group Activity Leaders are responsible for direct supervision of participants, ensuring compliance with OCFS SACC Regulations and development of programming lessons and activities. Activity Leaders implement activities, take attendance, perform wellness checks, report unexpected absences and observations, attend staff meetings involve youth in program planning and decision making, advocate for children and families and attends staff development trainings. Activity leaders partake in family events and attend organization fundraising events. Activity leaders develop lessons, plan activities, and assist in set up and take down of program each day in a shared school environment run at Westfield location, and Jamestown public school locations.
REPORTS TO: Site Coordinator, or Program Director
WORKS WITH: Program Directors, Site Coordinators, Staff and Volunteers
HOURS: Part-Time Approximately 25 hours per week, during the morning hours 7AM-8:30AM, and during the after school hours of 2:30pm to 6:00pm Monday-Friday May require some occasional evening work for special/family events.
COMPENSATION:
Minimum: $16.00 per hour
Maximum: $16.25 per hour

RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Practices Active Supervision
- Adhere to LEAPS criteria, & NYS OCFS rules & regulations.
- Completes projects/assignments on time.
- Completes attendance rosters and turns in promptly.
- Completes Discipline/Incident/Accident Reports and turns in promptly.
- Develops and completes lesson plans by required deadline.
- Understands and implements safety and security procedures as outline by Site Coordinator.
- Performs other duties as assigned by Site Coordinator
- Assists in providing ideas for special events and new activities.
- Being actively involved with the children and ensuring the safety and well-being of all children at all times.
- Additional responsibilities may be assigned.
- Assist and support with planning and implementing a developmentally appropriate (DAP) environment and program.
- 15 hours of training must be completed each year as per OCFS.
- NYS OCFS and SCR backgrounds checks are mandatory
- Attends Family Nights and YWCA fundraiser events
STANDARDS OF EMPLOYMENT:
- Incorporate YWCA Mission into program.
- Represent the YWCA in a professional manner at all times.
- Adherence to confidentiality policy and code of ethics at all times.
- Adherence to all policies regarding personal conduct as listed in the Personnel Policy handbook
- Must complete NYS OCFS and SCR background clearances
- Must have experience working with children under 13 years of age
- Must complete required 15 hours of training each year
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATIONAL: High School Diploma (or its equivalent) required, Associates Degree preferred.
EXPERIENCE: Minimum of 1-2 years’ experience in Child Care or Early Childhood Education preferred.
SKILLS:
- Understanding, influencing and serving others are important attributes in this position. Must have good communication skills and work well with public, parents and children as well as other employees and supervisors.
- Must be able to follow instructions.
- Must hold a valid NYS driver’s license
- Must be able to make well, educated decisions.
- Position requires sitting, standing, bending and reaching.
- May require lifting up to 50 pounds
