Job Description
Position: After School and Child Care Support Teacher
Classification: Full-Time-time, Non- Exempt, 30-40 hours per week
Reports To: Bright Futures Childcare Center Empowered by the YWCA Program Directors
Position Summary: The After School and Child Care Support is responsible for the care and education of children and adolescents in activities designed to promote social, physical, and intellectual growth; providing a safe and fun environment; and working with parents to assess the individual needs of children. Ideal candidates provide excellent customer service, enjoy working with all children, have the ability to resolve conflict and juggle multiple duties, and support the YWCA’s mission of eliminating racism and empowering women.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must be over 21 years old;
- Must have high school diploma or equivalency;
- One year experience in a licensed childcare facility;
- First Aid and CPR certified;
- TB Test;
- BSAC Training or acquired within 3 months of training;
- Must be able to obtain approval letter of qualification from DCDEE;
- Must pass a criminal background check; and
- Required to drive YWCA transportation vehicles
Responsibilities:
To support social and emotional development and provide positive guidance
- Treat each child, parent, family member and coworker with dignity and respect;
- Consider the individual child in relationship to his/her culture and socioeconomic background, and;
- Help each child become aware of his role as an integral member of a group.
To maintain a commitment to professionalism
- Attend all staff meetings and other mandatory or required in service trainings;
- Maintain flexibility and consistency with all staff;
- Maintain confidentiality regarding staff, families, and children at all times;
- Relate to families in a positive and respectful manner, and;
- Maintain professional attitude and loyalty to the program at all times.
Job Type: Full-time
