What are the responsibilities and job description for the Beacons Manager position at YWCA Minneapolis?
JOB SUMMARY:
The Beacons Manager is responsible for the leadership, development, and implementation of two Beacon Learning Centers, Contact Plus, and Strong Fast Fit. This person provides direct supervision of staff, identifies and implements opportunities for continued program improvement, and engages in effective collaboration with community partners. The incumbent will understand and implement the mission, values, goals, and policies of YWCA Minneapolis.
Hours:
40 hrs/week Monday – Friday daytime/early evening hours. Ability to work remotely up to two days/week
Shifts and sites vary based on program need – must have ability to travel to various program locations
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Program Management:
- Provide vision and management of quality programs, focusing on: youth leadership and engagement, community and school connectedness, and healthy living, including nutrition, exercise, and sexuality education.
- Support program design to reflect best practices in youth development, ensuring programs are developmentally and culturally appropriate.
- Review and evaluate programs with a focus on continuous improvement.
- Oversee the creation and management of effective program systems, such as schedules, registration, training, and recruitment.
Supervision and Staff Support
- Provide direct supervision to program coordinators and create an environment and culture that is collaborative, strengths-based, and growth-oriented.
- Troubleshoot disruptions to the program schedule, staff shortages and transitions, participant behavior concerns, and other issues that deter program success
- Seek out on-going staff development learning opportunities that are aligned with the YWCA mission, and align with staff and program goals.
External Relations
- Seek out community partners who can enhance the program experience for youth participants.
- Participate on external committees as a needed to maintain relationships, keep up-to-date on current youth and program-related trends, and enhance YWCA engagement and visibility.
- Engage principals, teachers, and other youth work professionals as partners through relationship building and collaborative decision-making processes.
RELATIONSHIPS:
This position reports to the Girls and Youth Operations Director who reports to the Vice President of Girls and Youth. Critical relationships include Program Coordinators, the Girls and Youth Leadership team, Beacons Network, Minneapolis Public Schools, site principals and staff, and community partners.
