JOB SUMMARY : The Group Fitness Instructor will provide professional & motivating group classes designed for a diverse population and varying fitness levels, delivered in a safe and effective manner and in compliance with the YWCA of Minneapolis standards and mission.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :

Class Instruction :

Must hold a current, renewable Group Fitness Certification (eg AFAA, ACE, NETA) .

Must be CPR certified or complete certification within 3 months of hire.

Prefer minimum 2 consistent years' experience of class instruction.

Provide quality instruction by actively promoting and demonstrating safe exercise in accordance with established exercise guidelines and practices using music and teaching style that is motivational and mission appropriate.

Instructors have the freedom to design and teach classes that best fit their style and technique.

Communication and Admin Responsibilities

Group Fitness Instructor reports directly to the Group Fitness Manager

Maintain timely and accurate recordkeeping.

Actively promote YWCA programs and events to participants.

Uphold YWCA of Minneapolis policies, protocols and procedures.

Attend required departmental staff meetings and trainings.

Maintain all required CPR certifications.

Consistently use GroupExPro, the online program management tool.

Critical relationships will include Group Fitness Manager, Group Fitness Instructors, and Midtown Facility Management team.

The YWCA of Minneapolis Midtown location is located on a bus line, close to the Greenway for cycle commuting, as well as near the light rail station. Additionally, we offer free parking for staff.
