Essential Responsibilities
- Teach adult education classes in accordance with established curricula.
- Manage all Adult Education program enrollments.
- Staff official HiSET testing days (2x/month) at YWCA Nashville (Woodmont location).
- Lead weekly New Student Orientation sessions.
- Administer HiSET, and OPT assessments in accordance with established criteria.
- Develop educational plans and set goals with individual students.
- Create and maintain grade/skill level baseline data and incremental grade/skill level gains.
- Provide timely and accurate entry of client information.
- Offer a welcoming and encouraging client experience.
- Create and organize new student files.
- Track and monitor Adult Education attendance, submit weekly reports, and input data into software programs like Efforts to Outcomes (ETO).
- Attend program-specific and professional development activities.
- Actively participate in community meetings, events, and committees as a representative of YWCA Nashville & Middle Tennessee.
- Collaborate with the VP of Youth Services & Adult Education to establish and strengthen community and organizational partnerships.
- Maintains confidential electronic files for current Adult Ed students.
- Assists with departmental projects, including graduation.
- Attends HiSET team meetings, All Staff and other YWCA meetings as requested.
- Always provides quality customer service.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Minimum of one year experience in adult education instruction or similar field, preferably in High School Equivalency (HSE).
- Proficient in Microsoft Office; experience with Zoom required.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be required to communicate verbally with peers/general public, clients and vendors.
- Tolerant to various noise levels: noise level in the work environment varies – may be very quiet to moderate.
- Job performance will require the ability to move throughout the building as well as sit or remain stationary for extended periods of time.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and occasional weekends.
- Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license, motor vehicle insurance that complies with local laws, and a clean motor vehicle report (MVR).
- Ability to interact with a wide range of diverse backgrounds and social economic levels.
- Microsoft Office proficiency and accuracy in data entry.
- Effective time management and organizational skills in a varied environment.
- Ability to speak concisely and effectively.
- Ability to portray patience and compassion to clients.
- Proficiency in varying presentations to meet different learning styles.
- Ability to monitor participant interaction and adjust as needed.
