Job Overview
The YWCA NCA is seeking an energetic and organized Summer Meals Coordinator to be part of our EmpowerSTEAM Summer Academy Team. EmpowerSTEAM is a 5-week, interactive, Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics summer program for girls ages 10-17. The Summer Meals Coordinator will receive, organize, and serve breakfast and lunch for participants as part of the DC Summer Meals Program.
EmpowerSTEAM will be held at the Josephine Butler Parks Center from June 30 – August 1, 2025.
Responsibilities
- Work with Manager, Youth Programs and Summer Learning Specialist to ensure the successful implementation of the DC Summer Meals Program.
- Receive daily deliveries of breakfast and lunch from the catering vendor each morning.
- Sort and store meals and beverages in accordance with food safety guidelines as well as guidelines specified by the program monitor.
- Set up, serve, and clean up daily breakfast and lunch.
- Complete the necessary daily temperature and meal count logs and coordinate their collection with program monitor.
- Deliver leftover meals to YWCA NCA Headquarters.
- Ensure the cleanliness of kitchen and meal service areas.
- Serve as a chaperone for some field trips on Fridays.
- Regularly communicate any challenges or concerns to EmpowerSTEAM leadership team.
- Understand, follow and enforce all safety guidelines and program policies.
- Attend mandatory training sessions.
- Ensure that program participants have a safe and rewarding experience.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of one-year of experience working in a school, camp, mentoring program or related environment preferred.
- Must complete online Food Handler Certification prior to start of program
- Must be available to attend mandatory training; and be available to work entire 5-week program.
- Must pass state and federal background checks.
- Personal vehicle and clean driving record required.
