What are the responsibilities and job description for the Full time/Part time Treatment Technician - Substance Use Treatment Program for Women position at YWCA of Fort Dodge?
The Treatment Technician is responsible for oversight of activities of daily living for each resident. Activities include overseeing housekeeping, food preparation (including kitchen sanitation) and helping insure the YWCA continues to be a safe, clean and drug free home to its residents. The Treatment Tech is required to pass a med manager course and to pass medication under the oversight of the Health Services Supervisor.
Skills Required:
· A high school diploma.
· Good supervisory/time management skills and proficiency for soliciting resident acceptance and buy-in to required activities and assigned chores.
· Knowledge of the basic concepts of case management, particularly the importance of participation in staffing decisions made about program residents.
· Comfortable with confidential information guidelines, directing requests from outside the agency to the program’s case managers.
· Good organizational ability, flexibility, resourcefulness and the ability to work independently and meet guidelines
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
· The ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with individuals of varied backgrounds and to work as part of a team.
· Must be willing to work all shifts, though consideration will be given to each individual’s personal situation
Responsibilities:
· Work direction with residents overseeing housekeeping duties, food preparation and sanitation (which includes cleaning the kitchen after meals.)
· Provide support and direction in resident decision making and problem solving.
· Comply with state of Iowa guidelines regarding food preparation. Maintains refrigerated and freezer temperature checks.
· Maintain the confidentially of all YWCA residents, as well as employees.
· Provide summary notes in the staff log reporting concerns, variances, and notable occurrences other staff would benefit from knowing.
· Be available to check personal belongings of those coming into the building from the outside. Suspicions items or contraband items are confiscated and may be disposed of according to program policies.
· Heat treat all clients’ personal belongings that area able to be safely heat treated prior to the items being taken a client’s assigned room.
· Perform thorough room checks daily and document same. Responsible for checking to make sure contraband items are not being hidden in the building. Room checks may include supervised inspection of drawers, suitcases and storage places clients’ use for storing personal property.
· Participate in staff meetings, trainings and in services as required.
· Dispense/Administer prescription and over the counter medication as per Dr. orders and document appropriately.
· Manage the weekly chore sheet for each floor assuring that assigned responsibilities are completed satisfactorily an expediently.
· Perform random or direction Urine Analysis tests when warranted.
· Perform cleaning duties as outlined on shift task list.
· Treatment technicians are mandatory reporters for child and dependent adult abuse. Completes required training within three months of hire and follows procedures outlined in policy and procedure guidelines.
· Provide transportation of clients to and from medical appointments and all other necessary locations.
