When applying for this position, please note that there are two different departments you will receive training in. The first is our Permanent Supportive Housing (PSH), which involves serving individuals who have experienced chronic homelessness and have a certified disability. Our second program serves individuals who are survivors of domestic violence and human trafficking.
Due to the nature of the services we provide, our departments run 24/7/365.
We are looking to fill a part-time and as-needed (PRN) position. We do offer a $2 pay differential for non-traditional hours and an additional $2 per hour for weekend night shifts.
This job is for someone who is passionate about helping others. It requires compassion and a calm demeanor when helping people in crisis. If this sounds like you, some of the job responsibilities are listed below:
- Answer crisis-line calls, provide support and referrals as needed, document calls
- Provide advocacy, help create safety plans, emotional support, educational information, community referrals, and crisis intervention to clients as needed
- Perform intake for new shelter clients, providing orientation and personal needs
- Observe clients’ daily interactions and provide staff intervention when necessary
- Write observation/case notes regarding clients and shift information, maintain accurate case information, document necessary statistical information
- Answer all incoming community telephone calls; provide requested information and/or route to appropriate staff member or staff voicemail, taking messages when necessary
- Perform agency security role through monitoring of entrances and cameras
- Perform emergency drills as scheduled and complete all necessary paperwork
