Assistant Aquatics Manager
Job Summary
As an Assistant Aquatics Manager, you will work under the direct supervision of the Aquatics Manager and perform various professional duties, including facility maintenance, training and supervising lifeguard staff for CPR/First Aid, overseeing private and group lessons, and managing parties. Additionally, you will be responsible for performing pool duties such as backwashing, turning on the chlorine or acid, and activating the fill system. In the absence of the Aquatics Manager, you will assume the role of the person in charge and be responsible for the overall operation of the pool.
Essential Job Responsibilities
- Perform all lifeguard duties, such as monitoring pool activities, providing first aid, and conducting water rescues when required.
- Ensure that swimmers are adequately supervised both in the pool and on deck. If required, fill in for lifeguards.
- Attend regular staff meetings, and providing training to lifeguards during in-service.
- Oversee both private and group swimming lessons. This involves ensuring that private lesson procedures are followed and group lessons run smoothly with consistent instruction.
- Maintain the outdoor facility by ensuring safe chemical levels and functional equipment, requesting chemical orders as necessary, and conducting regular maintenance tasks such as vacuuming and brushing the pool.
- Maintain regular communication with the Director and Assistant Director. This includes bringing up potential issues and solutions to the Director before problems escalate.
- Perform related job duties as required.
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- At least 2 years of lifeguard experience
- Lifeguard Instructor certification is preferred
- Current lifeguard certification by sanctioned organization
- Current CPR, First aid, & AED for the Professional Rescuer certification
- Learn and support the YWCA mission, vision, and policies to meet the goals of the organization without compromise.
- Present self professionally in appearance and mannerism at all times.
- Pass a criminal history background check and FBI fingerprint check.
- Very strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to relate well with a variety of populations.
- Flexibility to work irregular hours from time to time, including evenings or weekends.
- Infrequent travel: 0-10 days/year.
