Job Summary
The Case Manager position exists to ensure the delivery of services to adult and child survivors residing in Harmony House- a 72 bed emergency domestic violence shelter for women and children. Position ensures services delivered are facilitated in line with a survivor-directed, victim-oriented, empowered-based philosophy. Facilitates direct service through advocacy and navigation in the social service and criminal justice systems; individual and group educational and supportive counseling; court accompaniment; connecting survivors to resources and services as needed; and providing information and referrals to break the cycle of violence in the lives of women and children. Ensures survivors’ needs are met while residing in shelter and provides support to survivors throughout their stay at shelter. Additionally, position exists to uphold the YWCA of Palm Beach County as an expert in the area of domestic violence and to build partnerships, collaborations, and special initiatives to the promote ending violence against women and children and advocate for such throughout Palm Beach County.

Responsibilities
Facilitation of Direct Services
- Facilitates direct services to at least 25 victims of domestic violence (e.g. intake, counseling, advocacy, court accompaniment, referrals, and case management) annually
- Ensures women and children are offered and have access to support / activity groups and assist with planning and scheduling throughout the year.
- Ensures all services provided are in line with a survivor-directed, victim-oriented, empowerment-based philosophy
- Participates in mandatory trainings annually and achieves at least 16 hours of training every year between July 1 and June 30
- Monitors data security and ensures consistent implementation daily
- Maintains resource listings of existing partnerships, collaborations, and relationships with other agencies or providers to ensure the best delivery of services to women and children residing in Harmony House, (e.g. CILO for disabilities, Lewis Center for housing, etc.)
- Ensures and maintains accurate program participant files and case notes and completes daily logs; Osnium entry and all other requirements to ensure accurate statistical data
- Facilitates answering the 24-hour Hotline and conducting screenings
- Ensures the Hotline is answered within three rings
- Facilitates intakes and exit interviews when survivors enter and exit the program
- Facilitates all direct service on the Hotline and at shelter in line with a survivor-directed, victim-centered, empowerment-based philosophy
- Ensures survivors at Harmony House receive all basic needs upon arrival and throughout their stay (e.g. food, personal hygiene items, etc.)
- Facilitates the pick-up and sorting of all in-kind donations weekly and as needed
- Provides transportation to residents of Harmony House as needed or assigned
Ensure YWCA Harmony House emergency domestic violence shelter remains as a state certified shelter and is viewed as the expert on domestic violence in Palm Beach County and remains a well-established and well-known program by:
- Communicating with the Shelter Manager consistently and as needed.
- Collaborating and partnering with providers, agencies, businesses and/or networking in the community including participating on community teams aimed at addressing domestic violence (e.g. Domestic Violence Council, Victims’ Rights Coalition, etc.)
- Promoting and advancing YWCA USA advocacy initiatives including inclusion and gender issues in the areas of domestic violence
- Attend weekly/monthly staff meetings and one-on-ones facilitated by the Shelter Manager and/or the Director of Domestic Abuse Shelter and Programs for informational updates, trainings, feedback, and opportunities for communication and to ensure the best services and service delivery for shelter residents
- Ensures compliance and accuracy of data entry, daily logs, monthly reports, incident reports, and all other documentation related to service provision.
- Ensuring the cleanliness of main office and shelter residences
- Ensuring notification to Shelter Manager when supplies are low
- Ensuring notification to Shelter Manager of maintenance issues especially any issue that could be a danger to residents
- Ensuring all program standards are adhered to and followed as established by funders.
- All other duties as assigned
Skills & Abilities
- Must be knowledgeable of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Must be prompt; timely and responsive to needs of fast-paced organization
- Must be able to handle confidential information discretely
- Must be able learn quickly and have strong problem solving and critical thinking skills.
- Must be willing to provide back up and support for staff working non-traditional hours (overnight and weekends)
- Must maintain a positive work environment
- DCF Domestic Violence Program Core Competency and privilege status obtained within first 90 days.
Education
- High School diploma or GED
Experience
- Must have a valid driver’s license
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- This position requires movement about the Shelter facility on an hourly basis, sitting at a desk, and using a computer. Sitting on the floor and/or playing outside with children as needed.
- Ability to exert physical effort which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of light weight (up to 20 pounds), bending, stooping, stretching, squatting, and sitting.
- Minimal travel required in the Palm Beach County area.
