Job Summary
Reporting to the Director of DV Education and Programs, the EHW Center Coordinator is responsible for the daily operation and maintenance of the center. The EHW Center Coordinator helps to maintain a positive and uplifting environment for Domestic Violence Survivors.
Essentials Duties / Responsibilities : Works with the EHWC Director on effectively organizing, structuring and operating the Empowerment, Healing and wellness Center to meet the needs of survivors
Supervisory Responsibility : Specialists, Case Managers and hotline operators
FLSA Category : Non-Exempt
Compensation - $29 - $31 per hour.
Responsibilities :
- Supervise the shelter team through individual and group supervision, ensuring appropriate shift coverage and providing a weekly staff schedule.
- Collaborate with the EHWC Director on hiring, training, interventions, and performance reviews, while developing staff orientation and checklists with a trauma-informed approach.
- Coordinate regular staff meetings, facilitate training sessions, and attend YWCA Management and Coordinator meetings. Represent the Shelter Program at community meetings.
- Maintain a strong working knowledge of legal, housing, and social service systems, as well as community resources.
- Oversee the completion of grant reports related to shelter funding, with training and collaboration available. Compile statistical data, generate reports, and access the tracking system, with training available as needed.
- Build and maintain professional relationships with domestic violence agencies, criminal justice organizations, and social service agencies, serving as the primary liaison between these partners and YWCA NENY.
- Greet and support clients and children in the shelter, ensuring their basic needs are met and providing safety, guidance, and reassurance in alignment with YWCA’s mission.
- Ensure shelter staff provide high-quality, trauma-informed care and intensive case management, with timely documentation of services in the data management system.
- Assist individuals in crisis by conducting assessments and providing referrals to shelters, legal support, and health services.
- Manage all client intake decisions, including entrance acceptance and / or denials. Maintain accurate client files and shelter records, ensuring proper documentation and report submission.
- Oversee the ordering of essential shelter supplies. Work collaboratively with maintenance staff to ensure a safe and clean shelter environment.
- Participate in the on-call schedule as needed (with additional compensation).
- Perform other duties as assigned.
