Position Overview
Maintenance Technician will be responsible for building maintenance, upkeep, and repair of all YWCA buildings. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in maintenance and repair processes, excellent leadership skills, and a commitment to ensuring the safety and functionality of our infrastructure. Creating a welcoming environment for all clients, staff and community members.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement maintenance procedures, schedules and conduct routine inspections to ensure efficient operation of equipment and facilities.
- Inspect equipment and facilities regularly to identify issues and implement preventive maintenance measures.
- Perform regular maintenance tasks, including but not limited to plumbing, electrical, HVAC, drywall, painting, and carpentry repairs.
- Work with Property Manager and VP of Operations to coordinate with vendors and contractors for maintenance services and repairs.
- Maintain inventory of spare parts and equipment and ensure adequate stock levels.
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests from staff and clients.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety and maintenance regulations.
- Assist with monitoring the maintenance budget including tracking expenses and identifying cost or savings opportunities.
- Assist in setup and breakdown of special events.
- Implement and maintain maintenance management systems to track work orders, equipment history, and maintenance schedules.
- Collaborate with external and internal departments and vendors to support their maintenance needs
- Prepare reports and presentation on maintenance activities and performance metrics for senior management.
Qualifications:
- High school education with relevant technical certification preferred.
- Proven experience in maintenance or a related field.
- Strong technical knowledge of plumbing, electrical systems, and HVAC.
- Ability to work independently and prioritize and manage multiple tasks.
- Knowledge of safety regulations and standards related to maintenance operations.
- Proficiency in maintenance management software and tools.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Experience working with vendors and contractors.
- Familiarity with budgeting and cost control principles
- Commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and perform manual labor.

Additional Requirements
- A valid and clean NYS driver’s license is required. Must have a reliable vehicle.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Usual human services office working conditions prevail. Must be willing to travel unaccompanied to areas where the population served lives. Must be available to work 37.5 hours per week and the work hours may include evenings or weekends.
