JOB TITLE: Assistant Kitchen Manager
FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt, Hourly, $19.00/hour
SHIFT:10AM – 6:30PM (Monday – Friday)
LOCATION: Pottstown, PA
SUPERVISOR: Kitchen Manager
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
The Kitchen Assistant Manager oversees contract meal operations of the food program, including hygiene, preparation, food distribution, record keeping and all kitchen operations; ensures adherence to USDA guidelines and all public health regulations regarding food storage and preparation, and keeping the kitchen sanitary.
WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING:
Examples of key duties are interpreted as being descriptive and not restrictive in nature:
- Prepare nutritious meals and snacks for contract meals; prepares substitute items for participants on restricted diets.
- Practices safe food handling techniques in food preparation and storage.
- Informs supervisor of any kitchen supply needs including, but not limited to paper goods, food items, equipment, and cleaning supplies.
- Maintains verification of food and non-food purchases to meet requirements.
- Keeps a daily meal production record and delivery records.
- Maintains a safe, organized, and sanitary kitchen, pantry and storage area.
- Delivers contract meals using YW3CA vehicle.
- Pick up food donations using YW3CA vehicle.
- Completes annual online compliance training, as required.
- Adheres to YWCA and ServSafe guidelines related to food handling safety and working with participants.
- Other duties as assigned within the scope of position expectations.

- Ability to perform mathematical calculations accurately.
- Basic knowledge of USDA guidelines.
- Knowledge of production cooking.
- Ability to work independently, goal oriented.
- Willingness to work additional hours as needed.

- In the kitchen, the employee must be able to lift up to 50 pounds, to stoop, kneel, bend and stand for periods of time.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and ability to travel from site to site daily.
Education/ Experience:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum four (4) years’ experience in production or commercial cooking required.
- Current Serv-Safe Certification required.
- Associate degree in culinary arts (preferred).
- Experience with the Child and Adult Food Program and USDA requirements and documentation a plus.
- Candidate must be willing to submit background checks including: FBI-generated fingerprint check, state child welfare department report, state police criminal background check, and National Sex Offender Registry Verification.
- Must submit current Health Assessment and TB test.
