Job Title: Technology Instructor
Reports to: Executive Director
FLSA Status: Part Time/Contract
Work Schedule: Day shift, with occasional evenings required

We are looking for a patient, enthusiastic, and tech-savvy Technology Class Instructor to join our nonprofit team. This role focuses on teaching individuals essential digital skills, helping them gain confidence in using modern technology. Through structured classes and hands-on guidance, the instructor will empower learners to navigate computers, smartphones, tablets, and the internet in a supportive and engaging environment. Classes are offered onsite at YWCA and offsite at community organizations.
General Responsibilities:
· Plan and lead technology classes on topics such as Windows 11, Microsoft Word and Excel, computer basics, email, internet safety, social media, and mobile device use (smartphones and tablets).
· Provide one-on-one support as needed, addressing individual questions and concerns.
· Develop easy-to-follow lesson plans, instructional materials, and handouts tailored to the needs of learners.
· Foster a welcoming, patient, and encouraging atmosphere, ensuring that all participants feel comfortable and supported.
· Adapt teaching methods to accommodate different skill levels, from beginners to those with some prior experience.
· Demonstrate and assist with common tasks such as setting up email, making video calls, using online banking, and staying safe from scams and phishing attempts.
· Stay up to date with technology trends and adjust lesson plans to reflect new updates and features.
· Communicate with program coordinators to provide feedback on class participation, progress, and any additional needs of the students.
· Assist in promoting the program to increase participation and help bridge the digital divide among seniors.
Digital Navigation Responsibilities:
· Collaborate with 211 services to contact referrals and assist individuals with:
o Finding and applying for affordable internet access programs.
o Improving digital literacy by connecting them with training opportunities.
o Providing basic tech support for computers, tablets, and smartphones.
o Assisting with access to digital devices through donation or discount programs.
· Keep up to date with community resources and digital inclusion initiatives to provide relevant and effective assistance.
· Attend check in meetings and informational trainings as requested.
Qualifications:
· Proficiency in Windows 11, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), email, internet browsing, and mobile devices (iPhones, Androids, tablets).
· Strong communication and instructional skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts in a clear and simple manner.
· Patience, empathy, and enthusiasm for working with seniors who may have little to no prior experience with technology.
· Previous teaching, training, or tutoring experience (preferred but not required).
· Ability to troubleshoot common tech issues and provide easy-to-follow solutions.
· Passion for helping others stay connected and independent through technology.
