We are seeking a highly skilled Firewall Specialist to join our team at 2 MetroTech, Brooklyn, NY 11201. This is a 12 month contract position.
Job Description
As a Firewall Specialist, you will play a crucial role in designing, implementing, and maintaining our network security infrastructure. You will work with next-generation firewalls, routing, and defensive security measures to ensure the integrity and safety of our systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Participate in design meetings and reviews for priority projects, providing security and network expertise
- Propose network security architectures that meet business requirements while adhering to best practices
- Collaborate with architect teams to develop solutions for citywide requirements
- Install and configure new network and firewall devices, including port configuration and base template application
- Develop and validate base configurations for new firewalls
- Replace firewalls and firewall rules following established procedures
Required Skills and Experience
- Minimum 12 years of experience in networking, network security, and firewalls
- Hands-on experience with Palo Alto firewalls
- Deep understanding of DNS, NTP, BGP, and other critical infrastructure protocols
- Proficiency in BGP, MPLS, OSPF, and IS-IS routing protocols in large environments
- Extensive knowledge of routing, load balancing, and networking infrastructure
- Experience with Cisco firewall technology
- Strong project management skills and ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously

- Experience in load balancing is a plus
