Piper Health & Sciences is seeking an experienced Research Scientist to support research on bacterial threats for the biodefense and infectious disease program at USAMRIID in Frederick, MD .
(Please note: this role requires Active Secret Clearance in the United States.)
Responsibilities for the Research Scientist include:
Planning and conducting in vivo and in vitro studies on infectious diseases and medical countermeasures (e.g., anthrax, tularemia, Yersinia pestis).
Performing experiments and in vivo assays in BSL-2/BSL-3 settings.
Designing, executing, and analyzing complex studies, including moderate-throughput screening assays and microscopy.
Animal handling, including injections, blood draws, and euthanasia under containment conditions.
Analyzing data, drafting reports, and contributing to scientific publications.
Managing lab maintenance, accountability of controlled substances, and compliance with safety regulations.
Preparing protocols, technical reports, and monthly updates for stakeholders.
Qualifications for the Research Scientist include:
MS or PhD in Molecular Biology, Microbiology, Virology, or similar field of study.
7 years of academic and/or industry experience in bacteriology, molecular biology, or related field is required.
BSL-2 experience is required, BSL-3 experience is highly preferred.
Eligibility to obtain/maintain Active Secret Clearance and BPRP status in the United States.
Compensation for the Research Scientist includes:
Salary range: approximately $80,000 - $90,000 annually, commensurate with experience
