Job Description
Position Synopsis : Designer II, EIC will be responsible to understand and develop wiring diagrams, connection diagrams, one-line/three-line diagrams, schematic/elementary diagrams, logic diagrams and conduit/raceway diagrams. Designer II, EIC will have the ability to produce complex 2D engineering drawings. Individual will be responsible to check drawings for accuracy including dimensions, spelling, drafting standards and completeness utilizing correct project design criteria. Participation in field walk downs as necessary, to obtain measurements, verify as-built documentation, and develop field sketches in support of plant modifications and design installations will occasionally be required. Position requires the individual to exercise independent judgment to develop designs with minimal direction from Design Supervisor, Design Lead or Engineering and will concurrently support multiple projects. Individual will need to communicate with project engineers and other disciplines to develop drawings and resolve design discrepancies. The ability to interface with the customer and their construction representatives to integrate designs to satisfy their standards is a must for this position.
Education Required (minimum): Associates degree in drafting, design or engineering technology or 4 years of equivalent experience in the design of electrical and controls systems.
Experience Required (minimum) : Must have 5 years (minimum) of experience in engineering drafting and electrical design practices in addition to the education requirements.
Responsibilities
Other Required Qualifications (minimum) : Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required. A demonstrated ability to direct drafting personnel on drawing assignments is required. Proficient in AutoCAD and/or MicroStation CAD software packages (or an equivalent software package) and Microsoft Office software, Word, Excel, etc. is required with competency in software applications for email and databases. Demonstrated technical knowledge of design practices, codes, and standards applicable to electrical/I&C systems is required. Working knowledge of electrical design principles and practices and a working knowledge of Wiring Diagrams is required. Effective time management skills are required as position may involve working on several projects concurrently. Ability to pass security and drug screening and maintain unescorted commercial nuclear plant access is required. Successful candidate will be required to understand and comply with company policies, procedures, and processes.
Overtime work is required. Travel to client sites is required with periods of field/office work.

Preferred Qualifications: Knowledge or use of Raster Design or 3D modeling experience is a plus. Ability to utilize various drafting and CADD techniques as required for project requirements. Additional certifications and/or courses in basic electronics and/or electrical systems desired. Recent plant modification package development and/or field experience on nuclear power plant projects is a plus.
