Instrument Technician will be responsible for installing, repairing, maintaining, and calibrating electronic equipment and gauges that control, regulate, and/or monitor a mechanical system.
Position Highlights:
- Must have 5 years’ experience in instrumentation
- Must be able to read blue prints.
- Must be able to work on low and high pressure tubing/piping systems.
- Must have tools (see tool list below).
- Must be able to work with precision instruments and tools.
- Must have Current TWIC Card
- Must have Valid Driver License
- Must be willing to follow all company and project work policies and procedures
Job Description:
- Inspects, tests, adjusts, and repairs electric, electronic, mechanical, and pneumatic instruments and systems used to indicate, record, and control chemical manufacturing processes.
- Inspects meters, indicators, and gauges to help detect causes of abnormal fluctuations in process measurements.
- Tests accuracy of flowmeters, pressure gauges, temperature indicators, controllers, and other recording, indicating, or controlling instruments to locate defective components in system, using test equipment.
- Traces out and tests electrical and electronic solid state components to locate defective parts in analog and digital devices using test equipment, schematics, and maintenance manuals.
- Removes defective instruments from system, decontaminates, disassembles, and cleans instruments, and replaces defective parts, using hand tools.
- Instrument Installation and Loop checking; Reassembles instruments and replaces instruments in system, using hand tools.
- SIS Instrument Calibrations
- Analyzing instrument Calibrations (such as but not limited to PH probes, LEL detectors, CO monitors, etc.) including maintenance/Repair
- Instrument tubing Fitting/bending (Process Tubing, air, etc.)
- Lubricates instruments and replaces defective wiring and tubing
- Calibrates readings on instruments according to standards and adjusts phasing and aligns stages to ensure accuracy of recording and indicating function.
- Records calibrations made, parts and components used, and inventory of parts on hand.
- Prepares schematic drawings, sketches, and reports to reflect changes or alterations made in instruments, circuits, and systems.
- Willing to learn about unfamiliar instrumentation both old and new.
- Employee will be required to adhere to large amounts of standing, walking, bending, squatting and lifting.
- Will use arms and hands to signal, grab, hold, turn, push, and pull: objects, materials, controls and tools.
- May be required to lift, carry and move up to 50lbs.
- Must be able to work at heights and be able to climb ladders and stairways as well as work on elevated platforms
- Will as needed work at heights, climb ladders and stairways and work off of platforms. Will work at heights up to 300’ utilizing proper fall protection.
- Must be capable of working outside in the elements including heat, cold, rain, snow and wind
- Will be required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) including but not limiting to hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, fall arrest harness, face shield, ear plugs, and goggles.
