Job Description
Zachry Engineer Corporation (ZEC) is looking for a detail-oriented Senior Planner who is highly qualified in Primavera P6 engineering schedules to work in our Houston – Westchase office. This is a great opportunity to work on a challenging project for a well-known client in the industry.
Responsibilities
- Lead project baseline creation during the project initiation and setup phase
- Convert the scope of work document into a logically linked, resource loaded schedule
- Perform schedule analysis using Project Management software's including Primavera P6.
- Create and Monitor schedule compliance, key performance, factors, and provide analysis of variations to baseline data.
- Facilitate detailed multi-discipline scope reviews
- Perform detailed schedule quality and integrity checks
- Update and validate physical progress reported from EVMS systems
- Provide project schedule support and mentor junior planners as required
- Produce workforce histograms and progress curves in connection with the schedules
- Elevate and expedite operations that are delaying the schedule and analyze changes to the schedule to meet unforeseen conditions
- Assist the project manager in developing project scope of work for required Project Controls tasks
- Study and understand all relevant project documents pertaining to the preparation of schedules
- Identify current and potential factors that may delay the schedule. Assess actions for recovery and improvement and analyze changes to the schedule to meet unforeseen conditions
- Prepare, review, and ensure the timely issue of all relevant reports to stakeholders
Qualifications
- High school diploma with previous experience in other functional areas
- Minimum of 15 years of experience in project controls with a focus on engineering
- Experience in building engineering schedules from scratch.
- Ability to lead project meetings and make presentations
- Problem-solving skills, work to resolve complex situations with appropriate management
- Requires excellent working knowledge of project management software, specifically Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, and Excel
- Must have a proven record and experience leading the project controls effort on assigned projects
- Must have an understanding of the basic principles of project management
- Must have a high degree of computer literacy
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact with staff at all levels
- Dependable by meeting deadlines, working independently, being accountable for work, maintaining focus, being punctual, and having a good attendance record
- Maintain a professional attitude and be able to work independently or work as a team member when needed
Physical Demands
Employee will be required to communicate in person, via telephone, email, video chat and software systems. Position may include visits to construction sites and industrial facilities requiring mobility (on ground and at heights) and the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) including but not limited to: hardhat, safety glasses/goggles, ear plugs/muffs, masks/respirators, safety vests, gloves and work boots.
Work Environment
Employee will work in multiple environments including an office or in a trailer or building on construction sites. On construction sites, noise levels will be moderate to high. Job sites may contain the following: light to heavy equipment vehicles, small to large equipment, materials, communication equipment and tools, people standing, walking, sitting, signaling, and talking. Noise levels vary and may include bells, whistles, and alarms.
