We're seeking a dynamic and strategic Director of Capital Improvement Projects to spearhead the development and execution of major capital projects across our network of 25 industrial liquid waste processing facilities nationwide. Reporting directly to the COO, you will be instrumental in optimizing our operations and driving significant environmental impact.
Your Mission:
As a seasoned Chemical Engineer with a proven track record in oil refining, petrochemicals, or chemical manufacturing, you will lead the full project lifecycle – from initial feasibility and process design to construction, commissioning, and ongoing operational support. Your expertise will directly influence the efficiency and sustainability of our facilities, ensuring compliance with the highest safety and environmental standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Project Leadership: Guide and direct complex capital improvement projects, focusing on optimizing oil/water separation processes and enhancing industrial wastewater treatment.
- End-to-End Project Management: Develop project scopes, prioritize schedules, manage budgets, and lead construction upgrades, ensuring timely and successful project delivery.
- Process Optimization & Innovation: Conduct feasibility studies, process simulations, and economic evaluations to drive process improvements and technological advancements.
- Technical Design & Documentation: Oversee the creation of detailed PFDs and P&IDs using AutoCAD, ensuring accurate and efficient project execution.
- Vendor & Procurement Management: Collaborate with vendors to specify and procure new process equipment and instrumentation, ensuring optimal performance and value.
- Safety & Compliance: Ensure strict adherence to process safety standards and environmental regulations, maintaining a culture of safety and responsibility.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with operations, maintenance, engineering, business development, finance, and procurement teams to achieve strategic objectives.
- Subject Matter Expertise: Serve as the internal SME in oil/water separation and recovery technologies, providing critical technical guidance and support.
Your Expertise:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering or Petroleum Engineering.
- 12 years of progressive experience in process engineering, project engineering, or project management within oil refining, petrochemical, or chemical manufacturing.
- 3 years of demonstrated leadership and managerial experience.
- Strong understanding of chemical engineering principles, including heat and mass transfer, fluid dynamics, and thermodynamics.
- Hands-on experience with mass/heat transfer operations, particularly evaporation and distillation, and industrial wastewater treatment processes (oil/water separation, metals precipitation, etc.).
- Proficiency in process simulation software (Aspen Plus, HYSYS).
- Experience with P&IDs and PFDs.
- Experience in Process Safety Management/PHA is a plus.
- Experience with AutoCAD is a plus.
- Exceptional problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
- Willingness to travel 30-50% throughout the US.

Salary : $175,000 - $190,000
