Warehouse Manager - Portland
Job Summary: The Warehouse Manager will be responsible for managing all aspects of warehouse operations, inventory management and staffing in the Portland facility. You’ll be reporting to the Operations Controller and will oversee all goods in and out of the warehouse while ensuring groundwork operations are running efficiently, and inventory is stored and managed effectively.
Job Description
- Coordinate and oversee all warehouse logistics.
- Oversee receiving, warehousing, distribution, and maintenance of all inventory.
- Ensure efficient utilization of space and layout to minimize loading times.
- Supervise and direct warehouse employees to make sure the warehouse team is adequately staffed, motivated, and trained.
- Maintain standards of health, safety, and security in the warehouse, including communicating and enforcing company safety policies and safe work habits.
- Maintain a high standard of customer service provided to customers through warehouse operations.
- Conduct inventory counts and manage supply of goods as needed.
- Supervise all forklift operations.
- Serve as a liaison to customers and transportation companies.
- Maintain warehouse machinery and ensure equipment is serviced when needed and a clean and tidy workspace is always maintained.
- Maintain shipping documentation, manifests, and receipts and ensure packing slips match shipment materials.
- Report on warehouse activities on a regular basis.
- Abide by and enforce facility rules and state laws and regulations.
- Improve warehouse work processes through strategic planning in order to create a more efficient fulfilment system.
Requirements and qualifications:
Education
- Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or any related field Preferred, however other fields degrees are also welcome if Exp is Good.
- Certification in Logistics or Supply Chain Management (Added Advantage), such as:
o Six Sigma Certification
o Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP)
o OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) Certification for safety training
Relevant Experience
- Minimum 12 years of warehouse management experience required.
- Experience in warehouse management, logistics, or distribution, particularly in industries that handle large volumes of products like tires, automotive parts, or similar heavy goods. in warehouse management, logistics, or distribution, particularly in industries that handle large volumes of products like tires, automotive parts, or similar heavy goods.
- Experience in managing warehouse operations, including inventory control, order fulfillment, procurement, and distribution.
- Experience with supply chain operations and coordinating with vendors, suppliers, and transportation services.
Technical Skills
- Warehouse Management Systems (WMS): Proficiency in using WMS for inventory tracking, order processing, and stock management. Familiarity with software like WMS, SAP, or other related platforms.
- Forklift & Material Handling Equipment: Basic knowledge of warehouse equipment like forklifts, pallet jacks, and other MHEs.
- Basic Computer Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools like Excel for tracking and reporting inventory, scheduling, and analyzing data.
Soft Skills
- Leadership & Team Management: Ability to manage, motivate, and lead a team of warehouse staff, ensuring they perform efficiently.
- Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with internal teams, vendors, suppliers, and customers.
- Problem-Solving: Ability to quickly identify operational problems (e.g., stock discrepancies, fulfilment delays) and find effective solutions.
- Attention to Detail: Precision in managing stock levels, inventory records, and ensuring the accurate fulfillment of orders.
Knowledge of Safety Regulations:
- Health and Safety Standards: Familiarity with safety regulations in the warehouse environment, particularly related to the handling of heavy goods like tires, and ensuring compliance with OSHA or local safety standards.
- Workplace Safety: Knowledge of workplace safety procedures, fire safety protocols, and emergency response management.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $75,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
